ok, i already asked a Q about losing weight...i'm gonna go out on a whim and say it is my diet that's keeping me from losing weight (i guess all the exercize keeps me from gaining though)
my problem is, i seem to be the only person in my group of friends that has to watch what they eat.
my best friend is 21 and looks like a 13 year old. she eats fast food for lunch and dinner and Little Debbies inbetween for snacks. my boyfriend is the same way, he's 5 foot 8 and weights about 145 lbs.
so how can i eat to lose, when everyone around me wants to go eat bad food, or make cookies, or go get ice cream? everytime i try to eat good, i feel like i'm ruining their plans for dinner...plus i have a terrible sweet tooth, and low will power!
i hate sitting in my apartment drinking Slim Fast and eating carrots alone while my friends make a Taco Bell run.

I agree with you. Slim Fast and carrots suck ! However, you might compromise with them and go to Subway or Friday's. Let them get what they want and you ask for a smaller portion or sandwich, with more veggies. Drink lots of water, and no cookies or chips. Also, if you can throw away half of the bread, you are better off.
The sweet tooth is hard. Me, too. You might try drinking a cup to a pint of water when you get the craving... and wait 20 min. Then if you still need sweet, try a small piece of boiled/baked chicken breast and half of a sweet potato ... and another glass of water. Then go take a 20 minute walk.... It may help.

Eating a healthy snack before you go out with your friends to help you have will-power when you are looking at the menu. You could even bring some carrot sticks or your Slim Fast with you. Plus, most fast food places do have healthy options now...salads, wraps, etc. As someone else suggested, you could also order a kids' meal. Instead of a burger, order a grilled chicken sandwich...hold the mayo. Take the "top" off your sandwich so you are getting half the bread carbs. When they go out for ice cream, order frozen yogurt or sugar free products.
Good luck to you...I know it's hard, but you can do it.

Look at the ingredients list on your canned soup. Subtract everything you can't pronounce and write down the rest. That's your next grocery list. :-) Add in barley, lentils or other beans to make it stretch further and add in some protein. You can find cooking instructions and recipes on the 'net. Or check out the library for not-too-fancy cook books. Every shopping trip, look to price down a different type of food. Potatoes and pasta are cheaper carbs than processed cereals or bread, and generally healthier too. And make friends with oatmeal. The real stuff, not the silly expensive instant packets. Even with raisins or apple, it's a cheap meal that lasts for hours. Eating well is cheaper than eating badly.

i know its hard watching your friends do this . heres what to do : eat a little healthy snack that will fill you up before you go to taco bell with your friends . then you can get something very small to eat with them because you wont be as hungry . this way you dont feel left out and you still eat pretty healthy . heres the thing though, you cant eat a healthy snack first and then go eat a full size meal at taco bell because then it ends up that youre eating more and you cant really do this every day but once in a while is ok

You just have to have the will power to continue to eat good. Just when you are about to order something from Taco Bel with your friends remind yourself of that feeling you get when you lose more weight. Isn't that feeling much more fulfilling that what you get from eating a taco? Sure that taco may taste good for the moment , but what about a half an hour later, nothings left except for that feeling that you are fat. Good luck with everything- this tip helped me in losing 50 pounds.

Eat healthy stuff on your own before and go w/ them. You can eat that stuff as long as you're careful. For example, you can still go to McDonalds, but order a kid's meal. Same food, but in smaller portions, or get a salad with a low fat dressing like a vinagrette or italian. Order a small Mcflurry every once in a while. It's okay to reward your self on a diet now and then. Eat the food you love in smaller portions.
PORTION CONTROL!!!!

You can eat healthy if you want. Slim Fast I don't think is eating healthy. You should be eating lots of fruits and veggies, low fat dairy, etc. Most fast food places have low-cal options now. Even ice cream comes in low fat options or you can always get frozen yogurt.

Their being thin won't help very much when they develop heart disease from all that crap. Keep that in mind and try being a positive influence on them. Don't insult their habits or look down on them when they eat garbage, just be happy eating healthy and eventually they'll envy you. That worked for me!

Almost all restaurants have healthy choices on their menus (even McDonald's). Instead of having a super-sized big mac value meal like your friends, you can have a very good salad. Maybe your habits will rub off on your friends.
