Dehydration, pain medications(narcotics), diet low in fiber, IBS and other GI conditions, and a sedentary lifestyle can cause you to have small, round, hard stools. I would consult your primary care doctor if these symptoms persist.

The other poster, nurse, is correct. Your diet sounds like it is severely lacking in fiber. This is way hard on your intestines. You need 25 to 35 grams daily of fiber and 7 grams of that to be soluble fiber. You can start by taking Metamucil daily, follow label instructions.
