If so, doesn't this violate the principle of omniscience, and the claim that "God has a plan"?

Jin, if God ever needed to deviate from his plan then he's not omniscient. Thanks.

A perfect being could do nothing except what was perfect...

He could not deviate from his plan, assuming he knew he was going to do it...

Yes, there's a theological movement known as open theism that denies the notion that God is omniscient (which isn't necessarily a biblical claim even though so many Christians assume it is) and that he knows the entire future. I don't exactly know where I stand on it yet (still reading, although I'm digging it quite a bit), but it would answer your question.

In order for a person to "have a plan", they would have to look at all the alternatives and things they can do (which God can with his omniscience) and then decide which one he wants to do. So it is possible for God to know everything that could happen and yet have the free will to decide which he wants to happen. No contradiction between the two.

God has a plan -- he has free will to have one, doesn't he?

He is not omniscient!

Haven't you read,
Genesis 22:1 1And it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham, Abraham; and he said, Behold! I am here

Exodus 16:4 .that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.

Deuteronomy 8:2 . . .the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness, that He might afflict you, and try you, and that the things in your heart might be made manifest, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Hopefully, humoring the idea that he exists, he is tied up by his parents and is being burnt with lit cigarettes. LOL
No doctor, this did not happen to me, just a story I heard from someone else. LOL

God does have a plan.

Why do you think this plan cannot be changed?

sorry, god doesn't have free will, he has to do what his wife(wives) tell him to do.
