I would say physcosis is the most dangerous, the symptons, starting with manic depression, agression, leading on to voices in your head, or strong feelings to do harm to someone.
This can be managed by drugs but it will leave you in a sedated state. Best to be sectioned in cases like this for the indivduals safety and others.
My step father has it, it's not cool
I would also like to add this is not the individuals fault, it is a sickness and something they cannot prevent

Oh c'mon. Have you ever seen the DSM -- the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual?? It is the BOOK that psychologists and psychiatrists use to help diagnose mental illnesses. You are asking us to write a magnum opus.
As for the second part of your question, please do NOT equate "serious" with "dangerous" mental illness. MOST mentally ill patients, contrary to popular myth, pose no danger either to themselves or to anyone else. Some mental illnesses can be quite serious, however, with respect to the extent of functional incapacity of the person suffering with it.

Haven't time to answer all your question but here are a few contributions:
1. Depression - like being down a big black hole and life loses all purpose.
2. Panic attacks - can be brought on by many aspects of ordinary life. Shortness of breath and the "fight or flight" syndrome.
3. Anxiety - can hit at any time; shopping, meetings, public speaking, driving a car and, at its worst, can make you feel as of you are dying.
4. Paranoid Schizophrenia: The worst in my opinion. Hearing voices, thinking people are out to get you, unbalanced and irrational. Often capable of horrific crimes if they don't receive the correct treatment
