Jim Hunter said on Thursday at Daytona International Speedway that suspended crew chiefs should stay away from the racetrack, or risk further sanctions. Hunter said the edict was not put down in writing, but "was understood."
Do you agree with this "unwritten rule"?

It think that is a great idea, i mean that is a great call. I think that if you are a NASCAR crew chief and you have been suspended you should not be allowed to be at the race track, or have any contact with the rest of the team.

Look in todays world its a little naive for Nascar to think a suspended crew chief isnt going to be in communication with his team.As far as I know a laptop dosn't care where you are and a phone in your ear doesn't either.Nascar has to S.P.E.L.L. out rules for suspension. While they can and do control inside a track fence I don't think Nascar has any right outside of the cyclone. So if a crew chief is parked off the property Nascar has nothing to say.But the real problem is someone at Nascar headquarters better learn how to use a pen,if we fans are confused half the time about what is and is not "legal" think how the teams feel.Nascar is real close to paralyzing the sport, with no apparent reasoning invovled.

When the crew chief is suspended he is not to have any dealings with the team. But these men are in violation of their suspentions when they contact the teams. As for being on speedway property this can not be stopped as anyone can buy a ticket for the race. But the contact communication with the teams is where the violation of suspention is.

Yes, I agree. What is the use of suspending them if they can still come and stand in the stands and call the shots from a cell phone or lap top? No communication means just that.
After this warning and they still cross the line, take it to the owners! Suspend all the owner's cars for a race or two. The cheating will stop!

Like the "gentalmen's agreement", it was not written down, but when abused and became a saftey issue it had to be change.
Same goes for any other rule by verbal agreement. It was broke, so the law has to swing the axe down on the criminals (so to speak).

Break the rule and get caught your gonna pay a price!

I agree, NASCAR shouldn't make things up after the fact, but use it as a learning tool and get these rules ON PAPER FIRST!

Yes I think they should stay away from the track. There is no use in suspending them if they are at the track calling the shots by computer or some other way.But they can probably do the same thing from home.

About time they spell something out. If the crew chiefs don't use common sense then it's time to give them a reality check! I also agree with repeat offenders, take the owners and drivers down with them so it will stop!

Suspension and no communication means they are not allowed, period. I agree! NASCAR can stop them from doing so at the track, but not at the shop and out side the property of the track.
That's as far as they can take it, although I feel it should mean no doings with the team at all, but we all know that isn't gonna happen.

There was also an article that stated that they could start to enforce it . What Bill France was mad about was Tony Eury Jr's remarks that were made. Bill France thought that Tony was flaunting the fact that they were uneffected by the penalties.

He said don't flaunt it or it could get worse

as much as I hate to go with anything nascar says lately...its a good idea in theory, but its not going to work, they constantly change the rules as they go along, and this will not stop the suspended chiefs from doing what they have to do...
