It's one of the few things, imo, that is healthy for you and actually tastes really good! As long as it's not made with an excess of oil, there is nothing wrong and plenty right with it.

Yes, high in fiber, the fats in it are monounsaturated... it's a great thing! It's good as a dip w/ pita bread or pita chips, but also as a spread for sandwiches, instead of mayo.

Hummus

4 garlic cloves
2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
8 dashes hot sauce

Turn on the food processor fitted with the steel blade and drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it's minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is smoothly pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Yes hummus is healthy. It is a great source of protein and also can help with diets because it keeps you full for long periods of time. Hummus also comes in a large variety of flavors, so maybe it was just the one flavor you didn't like.. maybe try some other ones! I personally like the roasted red pepper or roasted eggplant.

(: Hope this helps!

With hummus, the chickpeas provide the protein and minerals found in meats, along with dietary fiber that meats lack. If you use a half-cup of hummus in a salad or sandwich, you would have a healthy, meatless protein dish....

It's sort of healthy, with the beans and garlic. Olive oil is healthy, but fatty. That tahini in there is packed full of fats, although good ones. So hummus is healthy-ish.

My daughter eats that. it's a different taste thats for sure, I wasnt too impressed with it. but like you she and i both have taken on the healthy start. She mixes it with other stuff or just plain on crackers. She has high blood pressure and told me this was a good thing to eat.

It's high in fiber and good fats, relatively low in calories compared to other dips, it is a healthy selection.
