Because I believe when the Bible was written, there were customs to use children (mostly boys) as prostitutes, and
that practice is what Paul and the authors were referring to.
I don't think at that time they had any kind of long lasting same-sex partnerships as we do today.
But the men who scribed and translated the Bible, instead of stating specifically "child abuse" or "rape" or man-boy slavery situations, they just chose a very general word because their cultures didn't approve of any of that.
I'm not convinced that God cares who we love, but I believe God does not like abuse, be it gay, straight, adults, children, or whatever.
What I don't understand is why American Christianity's obsessive fixation on that one issue? (gays). There's a nut running for Miami Beach Mayor and his primary concern is to arrest gays and put them in jail.. He doesn't say anything about child neglect, gang violence, hurricane preparedness, crumbling schools, etc. Only gays. That's all he sees. What's that all about???
Wasn't the only time written that Jesus showed real anger was when he drove the moneychangers out of the temple. He took up for the prostitute (against the relgious leaders and hypocrites.)
To me it's obvious what was most important to Jesus.
I really care less about what Paul writes than what Jesus said.
And as for Leviticus, read the whole passage and see how many hetero laws there are too, that we no longer follow.
And in Sodom and Gomorrha, the main sin was Greed.
If only the raving loon Chirstians in America spent half the time on greed that they do preaching against other people's sexual practices, I wonder how things would change!!

The Vatican's current stance is that it EMBRACES homosexual people. It recognizes that homosexuality is not a choice, meaning the state of "being homosexual" is not a choice and is something one is born with, just like one would be born heterosexual. However, it's the actions of laying with someone sexually of the same gender that the Vatican doesn't support.
Personally, as a Christian, I haven't seen one shred of evidence that the Bible condemns homosexuality. Just as every other verse in the Bible, those that supposedly refer to homosexuality could be translated and understood any different number of ways, depending on how you need it to fit your own notions.

It cannot be reconciled without severe denial and self-justification. You would have to apply the same logic to the other sins listed with it in 1 Corinthians 6:8-10, that is fornication, idolatry, adultery, theft, coveting, drunkenness, reviling, and extortion. Can you engage in the above and still go to heaven?
The Bible says that in Christ, you are a NEW creation. I see wanting to keep their lifestyle with a guarantee of eternal life. But it cannot be reconciled. They are being like Esau, exchanging their birthright for a pot of beans, just because they feel they would die without it in the here and now. Esau's error was more concern over present physical need over the future spiritual repercussions.
To all those who have deluded themselves out of the spiritual warfare against the flesh, and have chosen to make friends with it. Remember that the world is supporting you now. The world is on your side and is willing to give you all the justification you want. The world is now your friend.
James 4:4
Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Jude 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Sodom and Gomorrha are example to what can happen to people who give themselves over to strange flesh ( same sex).
Leviticus 18:22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
This what the bible say.

very well said,, I often wonder this myself,, I understand some struggle with this and understand it is wrong,, But there are so many that know it's wrong and it just doesn't seem to bother them at all.. Yes God is a forgiving God,, if you ask for the forgiveness and really mean it from your heart... But that doesn't give you the ok to just keep doing it,,

Gay and christian do not go together. How can they be saved when they openly continue in sin. It is a sin to be gay and God cannot forgive someone who continues in that. That would be like saying will I am a saved murderer.
