Can ground hogs climb trees?

I was at the park this morning and saw one trying to climb a tree.

Pretty sure they cannot. That is why they run for cover underground from predators.

In Mo I have seen ground hogs in Osage orange trees many times eating hedge balls. That's another name is hedge hogs.

ummm, he wasnt trying to CLIMB the tree. Oh, and keep it the heck away from your leg.
