I am a young African American 20 year old, who grew up in the suburbs. I often wonder do some of the Caucasian females that date me have racist agendas do they view me as some weird prise, or have they bought into some racist stereotypes. the reason i ask this i dated a girl not to long ago who thought i was into hip hop and wear a bandan and was your typical sterotypical black guy, but when i pulled out my guns and roses album or my andrea bocelli, she were suprised that i didint speak ebonix to, ok back to my question can someone still be a rascist and be in an interracial relationship

yes.
remember, "racisims" are not limited to negative stereotypes. there are positive -isms (racism, sexism, agism...); even though it's positive, it's still an -ism.

sorry, but you might have been a trophy boyfriend...because you know what they say about um...nevermind =X

Persoanlly dude, I feel ya. I get hit on by younger guys alot adn teh same things happen. The stereotyping of teh older woman thing just is horrible and then couple that with them thinking Im 'grateful' to be seen with them is a total joke esp. since I make 4 imtes more money and would like guys my own age jsut as much. Some people will use anything to get an edge on someone. I think you are being disrespected on some level but its hard to describe it.. They are not taking you as serious as you want or something like that. I know hiow you fell.

Sure.

Racism isn't about active hatred. Racism is about connotation, of any kind, positive or negative, relating to race.

Saying "this race is better" is just as racist as saying "this race is worse," right?

Sounds to me like she wanted to date a stereotype. You didn't fit the bill (no one does - everyone is different). I'd say that's racist, but just in a very subtle way.

Everyone has stereotypes based on culture. That is not racism. Racism is easy to discover because there is a meanness associated with it. Stereotypes are just that, and not facts. One needs to understand that every individual is different. The true test is: is one truly non-judgmental? Is one truly willing to accept another based on that individual’s character?

yes, it's very easy for someone to be racist and in an inter-racial relationship. it seems that she did buy into the stereotype that many people put blacks into these days, and you might have to wonder if the stereotype is one of the reasons she dated you in the first place. personally, i dont think she's that great for you to date if she believes in stereotypes, and she needs to learn better.

my current girlfriend is asian (korean) but she doesnt really follow any kind of stereotypes that most people have of asians, and didnt expect her to. that's one of the reasons i think our relationship is so great.

i agree with tiny and she may have just been brought up in a family where what u described she thought was the typical black person. so she may not be racist and u shoud teach her that there is more to u than what she thinks.

I believe there is. Especially being so young, girls expect you to be the "textbook black guy" Just wait though, there will be girls who will look past color and see who you truly are, i promise. Just don't give up.

Not really, if the other person doesn't like you for who you are, you shouldn't be dating. Racism needs to stop, too.
