I see so much pain and suffering on here from people with mental illnesses, including depression. Usually when answering I try to direct people to Yahoo Search under "The Last Temptation of George Petrie". This is my personal story about untreated depression that almost destroyed my life. I refused to take medication and spiraled out of control. Finally, after being hospitalized I started taking antidepressants. I was able to get stronger and stronger and probably better than I have ever been in my life. I was able to fight my case all the way to the Supreme Court of Florida and won. It was a long battle but I was strong enough to see it through. Today I am successul and my depression is under control. I still take medication and probably always will. If you are depressed and considering ending your life...why not give yourself one last chance and fight to find the medication that will help you survive?

Whether or not you are acknowledged for being inspirational to others, you need to know that what you did surely helped someone, somewhere. People post things on here on the time, that go unnoticed. Even if it was for you. Also, people don't always come back on and say 'thanks'. And, one more thing, it might be a long road they're on to get to their 'happy' space. You may not hear anything for a long time, if ever. Someone had directed something to me once that I never say for a long time, but I used Yahoo's search bar (above) and entered my user name and found where someone had tried to contact me with a question. You might try that but it'd be a little harder since George P might be too common of a name to pin point something that was meant for you. Good luck on your continued recovery!

I have never read your story, but I am a top contributor on Yahoo! Answers, and I too try to help others by sharing my experience, strength, and hope. I encourage you to continue to share your story even if I have never read it just as I share my story in the hopes that others may know that recovery is possible.

Like yourself, I continue to ask and hope that I touch even one life although my own life has taken on a special urgency as I am now facing a very shortened life by facing a life threatening illness. I continue to hope that others may be touched by my testimony. I may never know. But I continue to hope that someone may tell me, "Thank you," one day. I invite you to click on my profile and write me if you choose. I'd love to hear from another who beat mental illness.

You sound like an amazing person! Many, many people could be inspired and helped by realizing that they are not alone. I think the hardest part of depression is feeling like you are alone. Some people's life is complete when they help others. Sounds like you are one of these people.

Since such medications may eventually lose efficacy, record the following website, and put it in a drawer: depression treatments, on page 2, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris
