Pico Rivera is OK. It's inland, so it's hot. Copestir's suggestion is pretty good, but NoHo is going to be even hotter than Pico Rivera.
Of course, this is the high tourist season, so you're going to pay top dollar for hotels.
Try some hotels in Anaheim or Buena Park, you might get a better deal, since there is more competition. In Anaheim, I like the HoJo and the Candy Cane Inn. If you need a bit cheaper, try the Super 8 motel on Katella near Harbor Blvd.
Have fun!

Pico Rivera. It's sort of nearer Anaheim, Norwalk, Downy, um... I used to bartend at the Rodeway Inn (it was an unofficial truckstop right on the main road) and I think it's not really the LA you are looking for..... but I loved it. It's maybe not, um, the gleaming white LA you're imagining, it's gritty, industrial mixed with locals, mostly Latino, there's a casino frequented by Asians that has excellent snacks, um...

I've never gotten to Downtown from Pico Rivera in 20 minutes; maybe at 3 am on a Sunday.. Whoever gave you that info has never been to LA.

You know I have put up friend and relatives ...at the Beverly Garland Hotel in Noth Holloywood. it is close to Universal Studios, the prices are good and just a few mins from Hollywood, downtown , and Fairfax, Melrose. You might like that area of town a little better.

you have particularly lots exhausted all the possibilities: fly, force, Amtrak, Greyhound Air return and forth is the quickest, and specific the main fee useful, in case you e book in improve for the time of a sale. i've got seen tickets for as low as $29 each and each way, plus costs. this is the shortest, too, which takes approximately an hour. driving takes approximately 8 hours force time. Greyhound takes approximately 12 hours or greater, looking on course. you've gotten lots of stops. Amtrak is a little greater desirable than Greyhound, yet has fewer stops.

It's Pico Rivera. It wouldn't be my first choice honestly. I would stay closer to the beach and travel up and down the coast if it was me, but hey, I already live here!

it's Pico Rivera. It's a dump.
I'm with the other posters, Anaheim for Disney, Beverly Garland for everything else.

negative. Pico Rivera is not where you want to stay...thing about L.A. is the further outskirt you are from downtown L.A., the better the place is. I much rather stay in places like Diamond Bar, which would be half hour from downtown depending on traffic...or Rowland Heights area...lots of fun asian restaurants, business etc...and you are about 25 min or so to downtown...

Try Studio City instead, or Encino, if you can afford them. You could also try the Beverly Garland in N Hollywood.
