we recently got a great dane x mastiff who is 11 weeks old we are trying to house train her but does anyone know why her wee smells really strong we have 2 staffies and they dont seem to have the same problem? we have tried various cleaning products but the smell will not go away! can anyone help?

i found out the other day that if i dog is dehydrated then their wee is really potent so if you are feeding them just dry food you actually need to add some water to their dry food. This will re hydrate them and then their wee wont smell so much. Hope that helps.. thats the only suggestion i have

The smell could be a sign of an infection. Take her to the vet for a check up and let them know and they can give you some meds to take care of it. But do it before it gets worse and turns in to something else.

Does your puppies have lots of water ? Sometimes if dogs or puppies don't get enough water their pee will be stronger. Just as if we don't drink enough water. Try white vinegar & water to keep the smell down on your floors. One part vinger, two part water.

I've heard that some dogs are bred, or born that way.
It might just be the breed, like my dogs wee isn't that strong, but my friends dog is.
It is probably just the breed- don't worry!!

You need to take her to the vet. She may have a urinary tract infection.
