Lad, as you no doubt know, inasmuch as you're reaching for a laugh, atheism is not a religion. Of course I say, 'Thank god it's Friday,' and, while I haven't eaten at a TGIF, if the occasion came my way, I'd pop right over. Thanks for bringing forth a smile.

On an episode of "All In the Family" TV show there is a scene where Rob Reiner's character says "Thank God I'm an atheist!". Sure - happens all the time, but I don't think they have to kill themselves afterwards - I don't think that's a requirement.

I am a Pagan not an Atheist, but I will say this~~
Don't flatter yourself about the use of the word God.....
Remember we Pagans have been using the word God and Goddess since the DAWN OF TIME...
Your concept of God was stolen from many Pagan religions over many years...
Educate yourself and ask an intelligent question next time..
Blessed Be...)O(

No, for one you can change god to goodness and it works just the same. Also, it is just an expression that carries no religious meaning since we would be in no way thanking your god (there are others so the god doesn't have to be the evil Abrahamic god).
Isn't clever how TGIF just left out the God. That way we can go there, get drunk, and do things against the bible. Its a joke against Christians.

specific its genuine, many atheists do use that ingredient era. in basic terms as a results of fact its been embedded into them in view that beginning by society and greater oftentimes then no longer mothers and fathers. genuine atheists do no longer without notice awaken sometime and without notice opt to no longer have self assurance it an omnipresent being that listens to toddlers murmurs interior the evening. it somewhat is a few thing that must be found out, purely such as you're no longer born believing in god. you're conditioned to worship your god the 2nd you're born, on the grounds that's what society and your mothers and fathers choose. the choice to no longer have self assurance in god comes from looking. attempting to uncover the respond. it somewhat is extremely consumer-friendly for genuine Atheists (no longer in basic terms posers) to comprehend greater concerning to the origins of distinctive religions than maximum non secular human beings. And a super majority of religious human beings comprehend little or no approximately any faith different than there very own. Atheists carry on with data, evidence, no longer in basic terms mythical memories handed down from generations. the term "thank god" is purely that, a term. Are you somewhat damning issues to an eternity of burning interior the depths of hell once you're saying "damn it"? Are you touching on a blessed celestial deification once you're saying "Holy Sh*t"!? And do you go searching in hopes while somebody startled shouts "Jesus Christ!"? i did no longer think of so. those words and others like them not often recommend what their truly words resemble. surely, they are growing to be to be socially proper cursed words interior the excellent suited context. So the subsequent time you hear an atheist say "Thank god", you comprehend he's not truly thanking every person particularly than purely expressing his delight in a manner that he has ben conditioned to, as a results of fact it sounds a "hell" of lots greater helpful than asserting "thank you Golly Gee".

I don't use the phrase, as Friday comes once a week regardless of it's origin. But when Freyja wants to be thanked for her day, I'll be glad to do so.

No. Never. We say, "Praise science, it's Friday." As for TGIF, we pretend that stands for, "Thank Goodness I'm Freaky." If we ever do have to thank God, we run in a circle real fast screaming, "NOT REAL" until we pass out. Crap, I said it, now I have to start running...

Well yeah, but it's just an expression to us, it doesn't have a spiritual meaning. And yes, I have eaten at TGI F's a few times.
