Im translating a tv episode and need to understand what the BROWN GASKET here means.

Hi Ocean Dennis, the following is conjecture since I do not know from which TV show that line comes from:
One of the meanings of the word "gasket" is that of a rope (or a strap) used to secure the furled sail of a ship. Click on the link below, and you'll see what I mean. Therefore, a brown gasket could mean a brown rope, especially one taken from a ship.
I have a hunch that in that particular TV show, someone wanted to make sure that somebody else didn't just get execution by hanging, like it's too light for a punishment. By the sound of it, that someone wanted to take justice into his own hands.

"Blown gasket" would make more sense. They'd probably mean they want to find out if it's a heart attack.

He died in a tumble from a CLOWN BASKET. It was attached to a hot air balloon which unfortunately sprung a leak. So did the clown.

It probably said a "brown CASKET" - which is a coffin. Hope that makes more sense for you.
