I ask a question about tanning or whatever, and all I hear is skin cancer and stuff.
Can I help it, if you sit at home all the time with no social life?
I like to tan, and my friends like to tan and we look good. so while your enjoying your summer vacation sitting behind a computer screen and getting more ghoulishly pale, stop hating!

ok so let me get this straight - people who don't want to spend their time in a glowing booth for the sake of vanity are pale girls with no social life?
you're sitting behind a computer right now, hating
i know skin cancer seems like some far off thing, so let's try a different approach in your area of interest - tanning damages your skin to the point where it becomes unable to repair itself - translation: your skin will look and feel old when you're still in your twenties - it feels dry and gets all these tiny wrinkles, which become big wrinkles - and i know your thirties and fourties may seem far off but you'll still want to be pretty then, and you will not look good
you want to know what's really pretty? looking like you spend a normal amount of time in the sun - looking like you care about your health
but then, liars aren't very attractive either... so have fun tanning

I differ with you strongly. I'm very pale. I have a social life & I don't sit at home all the time. On the contrary I do care about my looks. That's why I don't tan. I won't tan because I don't want to be old and wrinkled. I'm 40 and no one believes I'm 40 because I don't have lines or wrinkles on my face. I don't have age spots or discolorations. I don't hate girls who tan, I just hate they way they look years later. Believe me baby it will show. Besides I'm proud of my "pale" skin & I wouldn't change it for anybody. You're the one who's "hating" us with fair complexions. If you want to bake, good ahead and bake, by the time you're 30 you'll look 50. Be my guest. 2D

Warning you about skin cancer and wrinkles isn't mean, it's just out of concern...and realistic. What is mean is assuming that all pale people have no social life. When looking in the mirror, try looking at something other than your tan.

Some people choose to be pale for other reasons. Not all people enjoy looking like they have spent the past month baking.
It's ok if you enjoy tanning. I do it on occasion. But the fact is, when you tan, you increase your risk of skin cancer. People are only trying to warn you of this fact. You aren't invincible. So please take precautions. Don't let yourself burn, and put sunscreen on your face at least. It is the first place people are going to notice skin damage.
But please, do enjoy your summer. Get out in the sun and have a good time. That's what this time of year is for. Just don't put down people who choose to enjoy their time in other ways.

lol i dont see why it frustrates some guys so much, there are some really good fake tans out there that people wouldn't be able to tell whether it is real or fake. and if it makes us feel more confident then who gives a ****. unless it looks orange, streaky or fake there is absolutely nothing wrong with fake tan. but im a girl so i dont know what most guys think about them, but i know it bothers some people lol.

I'm already tan; since I lived in a place (for 9 years) where the only season is summer, then you'd expect that.

The tanning bed is the most relaxing place on earth :) It's always warm and smells good (unlike my boyfriend lol).

I'm pale myself but I don't think there is harm in tanning. Most likely they are just jealous of you or their mothers frightened them to death as a child saying that they would get skin cancer and die.

When you're in your 30s and beyond, remember how you spent your youth. Maybe then you'll understand.
Then again, why does it matter in the least what those people think?
