Baptism
romans 6:
We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

It's a tough concept for us Westerners but I heard a good illustration some time back by Bob George's book "Classic Christianity" He gave the illustration of a baby in the womb. That baby is in it's mother. What the mother eats the baby eats. What the mother drinks the baby drinks. What the mother feels the baby feels, etc. Spiritually speaking we are in Christ and to us to live is Christ. We are one with Him. He is our life.

"In Christ' means you have turned your life over to Christ. Let me give you something for you to do so it will be clearer than anything we can describe in these answers. First when by yourself get on your knees and SINCERELY ask God to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart. He will. Being baptized should then be one of your first acts of publicly acknowledging Him, but understand it is not necessary for salvation. The Holy Spirit will come to you as a counselor and teacher. Read the Bible (I suggest starting with the Gospel of John) always asking God to open your understanding. We can get very confused using our understanding. Faith is then believing God!! He will help you and you will understand the answer to your question.

When a person is "born again" that is, when they have received or been "baptized" by the Holy Spirit they become a part of the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
1 Peter 2:5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

In laymens terms...
When we are "In CHRIST".. We "put on CHRIST"...
We are to emulate HIM, and be Deciples of CHRIST... We put on the being of CHRIST by taking in the Holy Spirit.
In our Walk with CHRIST, we are supposed to act and be like HIM in every way. "We" are to be the example that others outside of CHRIST would want to follow into CHRIST!
We are the "living Bible" to some, who never read the Bible... Being exemplerary in our Spritual Walk with HIM.
I always say, you can tell a "real Christian", by the way thier "inner glow" is! They "shine" with happiness, and vitallity and are good natured and willing to help others and be there for you.
Some day, in my Walk with CHRIST, I hope to be "that" way...But, I still have a long way to go, and with JESUS help, I can get to that part of my life where I will be the good "example" that everyone sees and wants to be like, so they follow me into the Church to learn about our Saviour and turn "thier" lives around.
I wish you well...
Jesse
