In Islam they are the same in many cases. There is not politics without religion and spirituality. Here is a link to some of what Islam, which still believes in the utter truth of their holy texts and believe that not one word should be ignored or passed off as "not applicable".
Please read the following quotes in context, in pre-911 translations, of course. Best to educate yourself, but get all sides, not just one.
My family escaped Islam in the 1950s. We've been expecting this war, WWIII for several decades. We're surprised that the U.S. woke up so easily, a little concerned it hasn't quite woken up yet.
It will. They aren't done. This is their last chance now that the whole world is watching them carefully.
Islam will survive and embrace free speech and religious freedom. It is my prayer and hope.

Terrorism is a religion motivated action. Since time began men have killed men for religious reasons. Some people will take advantage of the religious aspect of it to gain politically (power) without truly believing in the religion piece of it.

Mostly spiritually I think. Many of the terrorists we see in Britain and elsewhere are quite well off and seem to have no political motivation such as poverty or something like that.

Politically motivated. Religion just rots the minds of the followers and makes them easy pawns for those leaders with political agendas.

Definitely politically motivated. Look at IRA - it had not religious background. Nowadays, people in various regions don't agree with the US policies and frankly, their cocky attitude. Religion i.e. Islam, is only being used/misinterpreted to fuel hatred towards the US/Western World.

So its not just me that thinks that maybe a Spin Doctor In London may have had a hand .in it... See that carry on at Glasgow Airpoirt... any wee car thief from Glasgow/Paisley could have drove that Jeep into the Airport and parked it at check in.. What I am saying is - that was a very poor job of a Terrorist act .. Maybe they were just trying to hurry the on-going renovation work at Glasgow Airport - along..
Spiritual ..nah ! load of nonsense..

Both. The Bible speaks of terrors in the latter days and God's control of the minds of leaders.

It depends upon the terrorists. I think Islamic terrorists are more spiritually motivated. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many suicide bombers. Because they are a martyr in death, these bombers are motivated by their religion.
Some terrorist are politically motivated. I just don't think that Islamic terrorists are.
