I remember the day my mother told my yougest sister that all the fairytales she believed in were made up. My sister took it well, she was a very intelligent young lady and always thinking ahead. She asked why anyone would want to trick kids into believeing such a thing. My mother replied that it's nice to believe in fairytales when you're young. My sister said that she'd rather have been told the truth, and that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and God didn't make her world any better, and she hated going to mass every week. My mother said "No, God is real". My sister looked at her quizzically and siad "I'm not stupid mammy."

According to quantum physics WE are not any more real than Santa or the Easter Bunny, so, strictly speaking, our belief in our own reality is false by definition. And your sister is RIGHT...what the Catholic Church teaches her about God is ALSO false. When I was six, I remember listening to the Sunday School teacher blather on about Jesus, and I clearly remember thinking "I can't believe they think God is this STUPID." I never put any stock in what any 'religious" person had to say after that; I went out and found out for MYSELF.

I think you do believe in God but you are playing games with people to get them to become emotional with their answers so you can ridicule them for your own enjoyment. But then again i could be wrong and it only looks that way to me .I might be the one who needs psychiatric assessment.

"and a little child shall lead them..."
Your sister sounds like someone who grew up to be very intelligent (which I hope hasn't caused her too many problems).
My daughter is very much the same.

May it all be well with you.

Your Mom was right -- your sister doesn't know any better. Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) was real and his spirit of giving lives on today. God is also real.

Your mother should not have lied about the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy though. That's just nonsense.

seems that shes over confident with her intelligence at her age. i hate to break it, but your youngest sister seems a little cocky. that could be bad for the future if she grows up thinking shes always right. you have to talk the sense into her and let her believe god is real.

I don't believe in fairytales, but I believe in God. I think that if we could see God and make sure that he exists, then there would be no point of living and believing!
