Because that's what happened to those Christians when they were children, and asked the same questions. Their minds were poisoned at an early age, and they are continuing the cycle.

Actually, some people who call themselves 'Christians' have no idea about God or the purpose of life.
Any question you have concerning God and matters of a spiritual nature has the answer in The Bible.(Please look up and read 2 Tim.3:16,17)
So if you have a question and a so called Christian doesn't have the answer, you keep on asking because God wants you to understand and made sure the Bible was written so you can have the understanding.
It's only when man misinterprets or adds on to and take away from the Bible that confusion shows up.
For instance,God is love(1 John4:8)So anything not of love is not of God.Simple.
So you got to be asking yourself"well what about suffering for eternity for the mistakes we make during life?"
I ask you, does that sound like something a loving God would do?Of course not!
The whole idea of hell is one that started with Greek philosophy believing that the 'soul never dies.
That's not what the Bible says.Check out Ezekiel 18:4,20.

Many christians, I think, are not really sure of many things and the things they feel sure of they don't know what their bible says about the subject. Therefore, they are reluctant to answer questions about the subject. Also, I find most to be intolerant of other faiths. More power to them! Us! Me! Sometimes telling a myth is a good way to tell a truth. Many truths are surrounded by myth.

Ok, i might grant you that there were a few times when my kids were three and in the "why, why, why, why" stage that I might have "hated" that question. But I have never discouraged my children in any way from asking questions.

Rather, we would often sit around and play "questions" games in which they tried to come up with questions that nobody could answer, and then we tried to search the answers out.

Two of my four children graduated as class valedictorians, with 4.0 GPAs. The third was second in her class. The last was extremely dyslexic, and struggled, but managed to graduate with honors. So apparently we did something right in answering their "questions".

As for telling them myth stories, we only did that when they needed to know about them. You need to have some kind of an understanding of Greek and other mythology to understand much of western literature. Many of the names of the important cities of Europe come from the Illiad and the Trojan mythology.

But I suspect that you are referring to teaching them about God and the Bible. As it is not possible to have an understanding of the world without an understanding of the many force behind it, of course they were taught about him.

Huh? There is a hidden point somewhere because true Christians don't tell myths, especially to children. If you are insinuating that biblical truths / stories are myths then you need to say so. Regardless, they are not myths to us, but life.

I'm a Christian and don't hate when kids ask questions. I don't lie to them and tell them "myth stories" either.

Non Christians may tell children about Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, or sun gods. Now those are myth stories.

The Bible's historicity has been proven.

That's not true in all cases. Most adults are eager to let chidren know about Jesus since they are the future men and women. If they tell lies they probably believe that the children won't understand the truth because it's too complex

I also disagree, I love it when children ask me questions. I am a christian and I didn't become a christian until about a year and a half ago. Sometimes I find the children know more about the bible than I do, its kinda cool!

They are not myths. If my parents didn't tell me stories, then the mighty crocoduck would sneak out from under my bed at night and eat me!

Even parents for whatever religion they have are deceived by satan. He is the great deceiver who makes parents angry to their children or unreasonable and even tell their children myth stories. Satan is the author of all our sins and he is to be blamed and not our fellowmen. Satan is the enemy of men and men are not the enemy of men.
