I have a road trip coming up and dread it if the day is sunny- the area where the windshiled washer comes out is shiny but not chrome and the sun at a certain angle casts a reflection right in my eyes- even with sunglasses on it is HORRIBLE. what can I do- I was picturing duct tape.

What about putting on a heavy coat of wax, and not wiping it off? That should dull the surface and cut down on reflection.

No, the duct tape will come off in the wind. I think you should mask off the hood and windshield with newspaper and masking tape and spray some matte-black acrylic enamel on the shiny part. Don't sand it or prep it like you would if you wanted the paint job to last (it should be clean and dry first) so then if the paint weathers off, who cares? For now that would be best b/c if you smash it up from sun blindness, having that nice shiny part won't really matter much. Have a good trip!

cheap way: get a can of flat black spray paint, tape off the area well, spray the shiny part flat black..reflection gone.

better way: Bring the car to a body shop, point out the problem, ask if they can match the paint, to the color code on the car (any shop can do that), and paint the area of reflection the same color, only DO NOT APPLY THE FINAL SHINY "CLEAR COAT", it will be the same color as the rest of the car but NOT shiny, so NO reflection. also try "polarized" sun glasses, they are better for high glare applications.
