Happiness is the answer. If you are happy with yourself someone will see that and want to be a part of it.
There is not one answer for all situations. Some days it is important to have a good close friend (closeness varies)
Celibacy is the answer for some. Just don't over-analyze everything.

First it depends on how old you are. If you're still in school, you don't need one. To be honest no-one needs one.
Its more you've found someone who is your best friend, they make you laugh, make you happy, make you feel good inside. You care about each other and want to be together. In that case yes its important.
But having a bf or gf for any other reason, like cos your friends all have one, or for sex, or just because you don't want to be single aren't good reasons.
Having a gf or bf allows you to share your life with someone really special, and they should be special or theres no point.

i dont think its important.
Personally i used to feel that i wouldnt be happy without a gf.
But the truth is if you cant be happy independently how will you be happy in a "real relationship"? You have to find things that make you proud of yourself such as self esteem, education etc and work on those. When you get in a relationship you put all your pride and emotions at chance for them to possibly ruin everything if things dont work out.
Personally i've found it easier to not get involved in relationships i dont enjoy being alone at all. But you gamble with your feelings in a relationship i find. So just call me very picky :P for the time being.

What is important is knowing who you are, what you would like to achieve in your lifetime and being comfortable with who you are.
So no, it is not the most important thing in life to have a gf or bf. Although it would be nice to be able to have someone but the world would not end if you didn't have someone.

I don't think it's important to have a boyfriend, since I never had one in my entire life. To me, I am super duper relieved, because I don't have to worry about causing and making trouble for him, as well as getting him into super duper trouble with my family, their so-called friends, and the rest of the world.
If or when I hopefully do have Tobey Maguire as my boyfriend, then I would most definitely super duper embarrass him, his mother, his brothers, his platonic male friends, his platonic female friends, and his adorable daughter (whom I personally call Cheeks) very much, and I don't think the whole world would approve of me; an African-American woman from Englewood, New Jersey who is two years older than Tobey Maguire, and has a great full-time job as a Medical Biller Receptionist.
If the whole world sees me holding hands with a Caucasian male and his Caucasian daughter, I, along with them, would the complete laughing stock in the universe, and I sure as heck don't want to risk and sacrifice that.

Depends on where you are in your life. There are times where I have not been in the mindset where I wanted or needed a boyfriend, but then there have been times where I grew very lonely & craved a closer companionship than my friends.
If you're worried about not having someone, just relax & give it time. If you go into a relationship with someone you aren't really attracted to you could end up missing out on something better later on.

No i dont think that it is important really.
Its depends the age that you are. If your a teen whats more important is schoolwork and planning forward into your future. Relationships, proper relationships, will happen later on in life. But if you are older, it doesn't matter really, as long as you are happy and enjoying your life nothing else matters.
Good luck
xx

Wow...talk about opposite ends of the scale.
It's not important at all to have a gf or bf, just be happy with how you are, and only go for it if it feels right.
As for commitment to celibacy, it seems that going down that road is not to be taken lightly.

Is it neccessary to sustain a normal and productive life? No, a lot people find themselves a great amount freedom and variety during their single life. I think its a priviledge to be a part of someone's daily life, everyone needs that companion or best friend. Everything seems so much sweeter when you are in loving and satisfying relationships.

I beleve it is improtant to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. You need someone you can tell your secrets to and who will listen. I don't think celebacy is the answer. When you're ready you'll know. trust your heart.
