I don't have experience with the Marines, but I'm sure it is them. I went to a base known as Relaxin' Jackson for BCT. The name says it all.

Physically the marines training is tougher than the armies. They have tougher physical requirements and their job requires them to be able to do more than that of a basic foot soldier. Marine basic is 13 weeks while army basic is 11. the extra time includes more marksmanship trianing with other weapons. The Marines also make their basic training more mentally challenging than that of the Army. All of that to say the Marines have a tougher basic.

I would say Marine Boot Camp is the hardest, but if you go to the Army and join the Infantry your looking about the same. Army Infantry Basic tranning is done in Fort Benning Georgia and it is 13 weeks long. All Marines are infantry before anything else so they have to train everyone as infantry.
Now on a side note, I say close down Sand Hill and take everyone back to Chapel Hill in Fort Benning when Army Infantry Tranning was for real LOL.
I AM THE INFANTRY FOLLOW ME!!

The whole point of Marine bootcamp is to break you down and build you up as a Marine. it's "tough" because it works! There is no way to describe how it works, but it does. There are rednecks from west Virginia mixed with black people from east Oakland, and somehow they get along, because there is only one common enemy...the DI (Drill Instructor). You see, bootcamp itself is to erase all the crap you were taught about life in high school and re-directs your thinking. I wouldn't call it brainwashing, because it's really not. You will make bonds that will last a life times because EVERYONE is miserable. The only advice I can give you is to be strong, don't show fear, and it's over before you know it! He'll, I was in for eight years and it feels like yesterday I was standing on those yellow foot prints. The Marines, or any branch for that matter offers a once in a life time opportunity. You need to remember that after bootcamp, there is MCT, or SOI depending on your MOS, and once your done with that it's more training for your MOS. Think of like any other job. You start at the bottom and work your way up, but you DO have to work for it. It gets sooo much easier over time, but unless your at the top, there is always going to be someone telling you what to do. Life's tough, but at least the Marines will give you the tools to make it a little easier.

Everyone on hear says marines and I'd agree, paris Island probably is much harder than relaxin' Jackson. But you gotta consider all those army infantry guys that go through 14 weeks of hell at fort benning. Personally, I'd say they've got it tougher. Nowadays though, basic training has gotten pretty soft in the army.

I feel the Marines do have the more rigorous basic training but I just wanted to clear up what Cantcu said. The acronym A.I.T. does not stand for Advanced Infantry Training but for Advanced Individual Training. Not everybody that goes into the Army is infantry.

Marine Corp training as a whole is more physically demanding than the Army. Unless you did your basic at the Infantry Training Brigade on Sand Hill at Fort Benning. By far the most physically demanding as far as basic training goes.

If you want tougher go Marine. If you want a place to hide and slide, go Army. The army is the welfare, social services of the armed forces. All the dregs of society go there. Only red-blooded Americans who can stand the hard test of their boot camp are allowed to pursue the Eagle Globe and Anchor. Good luck son, good luck. Everyone knows the Marine Boot Camp is harder.
