Yes to all #3 Questions! I also have one who actually loves giving me hugs. I'll tell him to give me a hug and he will jump on my lap, put one paw on each shoulder, turn his head to the side, and then he leans in, puts the side of his face on mine and presses his face against mine. It's so cute!

One of my dogs will come up to me, place a paw on my knee, put the other paw up, then the first paw on my shoulder followed by the other paw on the other shoulder. She then gives me about a 10 second hug, licks my head, then gets down.
She was never taught to do this - she just came out and did it.
Both my dogs enjoy a brief hug from me, the husky doesn't like to be held for long though.

Yes! I have an English Bulldog and a brand new Chihuahua. I hug both of them all of the time! My bull dog loves when I hug him! And he def. knows that it is a sign of affection - he always starts licking me!

Oh, yeah. My lab/Weimeraner mix has to have insulin twice daily. Afterward, I always give her a hug and tell her what a good dog she is. She points her nose high into the air and closes her eyes like she's in sheer bliss. I swear that dog is smiling!

Yes I hug my dogs. They like it very much and so do I.
Yes they know it affection I get plenty of wagging tails and sometime a very sloppy lick too! LOL

YES all the time and any kind of human contact they see as affection and any kind of interaction with them builds a bigger bond so hug away

I always hug my dogs!!! Whenever I do, they smile... so I know they enjoy their hugs!! It isn't hard to hug my dogs either and I certainly do not have to worry about squishing them because all my dogs weigh more than me!!

YES, YES, and YES My dogs get almost the same attention as my human children, they do know it is love that i show them, and they are more likely to protect our pack then if i raised the to be mean.......i am the den leader and the watch my back
