First of all, its totally OK and natural to feel as if you need to find yourself. The only way you will feel better is to be who you are. If your boyfriend doesn’t like it then he never really liked you. Stop dressing goth and wear whatever you want. Appearance doesn’t make a person. You can still be the cool, artistic weird chick that everyone loves and not be goth or fake. Don’t worry about anyone else but you. Do what makes you happy and your true friends will follow.

It sounds like you are going through what is known as an "identity crisis". When people are growing up and they are in their teens and early twenties they want to know who they are and what their place is in this confusing world. Often times they will get hooked up with one group or another of like minded people and they can find some comfort from belonging to that group whether it be the Goths or Rappers or even a Gang.

All I can tell you is that God loves you and He has a plan for your life. It has been said that everyone is born with a "God shaped hole in their heart" and that unless they come to Him through Jesus they will spend their whole lives going from one pursuit after another to try and find happiness and the place where they "belong" in this world.

Why don't you look for someone your age who goes to a Christian church where they teach the Bible and ask them if they would take you along with them? Be careful that it's really a Christian church and not a Mormon or Jehovah's Witness church or even a legalistic fringe church like the Seventh Day Adventists.

Usually a non-denominational church like the one that I go to is good http://www.alcf.net or maybe a Baptist church or something like that. I recommend those two because they teach the truth that God desires to have a personal relationship with each individual through faith in Jesus and that's what we all truly need.

OK, kiddo, calm down; don't be scared. If this "Ex" that wanted you to change in the first place is an ex boyfriend, it sounds like things have been pretty rough for you.

I kind of went through the same thing myself, I just hope I don't sound like a total idiot trying to explain it to you.

I turned to my spirituality to get me through things, but that's not the only way to go about things. Most importantly, don't worry about what other people are going to think about you. They don't matter. What really matters is if you are happy and enjoying life. Do the things you like to do, dress the way you want to dress, listen to the music you like to hear. Other people's opinions don't matter. Remember that. You have to be happy first and foremost. Do what feels right. If you like Jewel, crank the stereo. Dye your hair blonde. Wear pink 24/7. As long as you're happy, no one else can hurt you.

And a quick word of advice on a rather nasty subject... If you become scared or afriad of this ex of yours, DO GET HELP! I didn't, and I regret that basically every day. People can help protect you from him if you need them to.

Give me an email or something if you want to talk any more, OK kiddo?

Oh, and I'm not trying to sound in any way against Christianity, but don't let the people in here convert you. If you decide that Christianity is the right way for you to go, then go, but don't let people quoting bible verses and preaching the wonders of their God suck you in. Make that choice on your own, and carefully. It's a big decision.

Hello, Nikki:

I used to be in a world that did not feel right. It was offering so much yet God was calling me to His truths.

Now, with 33 1/2 years as a Christian I have found the truth and an internal Kingdom that will never fade. I look forward to eternity in a perfect society where I can be the type of person God wants me to be and not some plastic person trying to please others.

Let me share a Bible verse, Nikki:

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

God has a better plan, and you can read His entire plan of redemption as revealed in a Bible code at: http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Blessings, Balaam

Relax. Think about who YOU want to be. Consider what YOU like about life. No-one else's opinion matters if what you want does no-one any harm. Be that person. Recover your happiness. Life is amazing. Enjoy yours. I hope you find peace.

and it gets better and better the more you listen to yourself and not everyone else. pick what sounds right to you. remember, just because someone says something doesnt make it true, it just makes it their opinion
