Remember the faithful men Enoch and Noah. Why are they described as walking with God? (Genesis 5:24; 6:9) In the Bible, the term “to walk” often means to follow a certain course of action. Enoch and Noah chose a course in life that was in harmony with the will of Jehovah God. Unlike those in the world around them, they looked to Jehovah for guidance and obeyed his direction. They trusted in him. Does this mean that Jehovah made their decisions for them? No. Jehovah has given humans free will, and he wants us to use that gift along with our own “power of reason.” (Romans 12:1) As we make decisions, however, we humbly allow our power of reason to be guided by Jehovah’s infinitely superior mind. (Proverbs 3:5, 6; Isaiah 55:8, 9) In effect, as we walk through life, we take that journey in close company with Jehovah.

Walking with God in the Old Testament meant following the commands of God. Enoch walked with God in Gen 5. God told Abram to walk before him in Gen 17. Deut 8:6 tells us that you will "keep the commandments of the Lord by walking in his ways and fearing him."

The generations of man in the Old Testament were constantly walking away from God by following the ways of the pagans that had settled in the Promised Land. They would forget God's commands, and worship other gods and not trusting in the Lord.

To walk with God to me means to be in total obedience to God.As you have read, in the days of Noah he had favour from God because of his obedience. When you obey God it ,means when God ask you to go up you just obey, when he ask you to go and warn somebody you will not start saying if you go there you will be killed. No you just obey, that is walking with God. You cannot truely obey God and not be favoured but in our generation how many of us are really walking with God. When you just look at the way ppl answer certain spiritual questions here, you just understand that our world of today is rotten.

I believe the term "WALK" Sort of means "HANG OUT WITH" in a spiritual sense. If you are currently trying to follow the teachings and communicating through prayer. You can go to work, school, or what ever. It is having a constant conscious awareness of his existence and concern for your life. What I trip out on is that Enoch was just "taken up" POOF! I assume to heaven?

You know one of my favorite Scriptures is about Noah, because it shows us what it takes to "walk with God"...

(Genesis 6:22) “. . .And Noah proceeded to do according to ALL that God had commanded him. HE DID JUST SO.”
(captions mine)

That says alot..."He did just so"!

Our loving Creator is the only one that knows what we need and he left us his Word, so that we might do as Noah did..."all that God commands"...He didn't leave it up to us to figure out what would be the best course, he gave us his own personal direction! He did give us free will, so that we could have the opportunity to choose which course we would take. In other words, so we could choose to walk with God, or Satan and his world (this system of things).

Noah chose to love God, and to serve God by walking with him every step of the way...no one else took notice of what God was warning, they walked with the world and pursued a worldly course...more wrapped up in their own selfish and worldly endeavors than their spiritual pursuits. Only Noah, his wife and their 3 sons and their wives survived the flood. We need to learn what God desires for us, which we do by studying the Bible daily and applying all that it says to our lives...Jesus told us to "seek first the Kingdom"...many do not know what that is, but in following the commands of Jesus, we are also following the guidance of our heavenly Father, Jehovah, who knows what we need and who loves us.

(Ephesians 5:6-10) "Let no man deceive YOU with empty words, for because of the aforesaid things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become partakers with them; 8 for YOU were once darkness, but YOU are now light in connection with [the] Lord. Go on walking as children of light, 9 for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth. 10 Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord"

(Proverbs 16:25) “. . .There exists a way that is upright before a man, but the ways of death are the end of it afterward.”

We want to make sure that we are doing all that God commands of us because e only by walking with God can we hope to walk for as far as we were meant to walk--FOREVER!!

To walk with God would mean you love Him and follow His direction. His laws and principles you value and are humble enough to follow. Praise Jah.

It means that we want to know God and not just use God to try and get something else. If we want to know God, we are willing to seek Him. If we want to know God, we will have to be humble and listen. God already has showed us what is good. Everyone somehow knows that compassion is good and hate is bad. We all want to be good. Now our task is to be quiet and listen.
