3 months to four years, then they go to school

it would be the setting's choice - just finished BND early years qualification so know all about the course work

they can provide care for children from three months to five years - although most children start school at four they do not legally have to until they turn five so there needs to be flexibility there. Children under a set age, normally somewhere around 2 years and under need to be looked after in a baby room where they have different adult to child ratios and older children 2 and over will be in a separate area. Some day care centres may also cater for older children - providing care for children before and after school if parents work.

Some nurseries or pre-school who only have a small space and number of staff may have to limit the age of the children they look after as they can not have separate rooms or the correct staff to child ratio so may have 3 months to two years or two to five years.

hope this helps

Normally day care centres take children over 2 years old.
Kids centres even take child about one year old. They cater to the requirements of working women/parents.
Play school and nursery are for children more than 3 years old.But there is no hard and fast rules.

In all the nurseries I have worked in, we have catered for children ages 4 months to 5 years (school age).

from 3 months to school leavers the rooms are normally split up in to 3months to one(1:3)
one to two (1:3)
two to three(1:4)
three to four(1:8)
numbers in brackets are adult to child ratios as required by law.
the reason you have so mayn different age groups is because the development levels are different by quite a lot under 3 follow a frame work?curriculum called birth to 3 and the 3 to four year olds follow the foundation stage

I had opened up a daycare in my home 10 years ago. I dont do it anymore though. It didn't matter to me what age group, what matters is how many you can handle and legally at one time. I had so much fun. I had one newborn, 3 toddlers, and an infant. That was enough for me, and I made sure I would be able to give them all attention, and not stress.

6 mths to 5 yrs, depending on the size of the nursery really, the nursery's i have looked at have different rooms for different age groups. i though this was a good idea, as its teaching children at a young age to socialise with different people and age groups

INfants under 1 year... because they cant walk/run and get into things. They pretty much stay in a crib, high chair, walker, jumper, etc - until you move them out.

Infant care. Its difficult to find care for your infant. I have always been too terrified to put my kids in day care until they could talk and let me know if something was wrong.

2 to 6 - babies cost more in insurance and you have employ more specialized staff to take care of them.
