"i love you"

it's pretty forward but of course if you're on that level with a person, then it should be ok. but mostly, people will say "anata ga daisuki desu" or just daisuki desu. or just suki desu. this means i really like you and i like you. these are mean't like a general i love you in english. and of course i don't think you would say ai shiteru to your family. kind of.....strange...more towards your lover. this is just part of japanese culture.
