for a job application, I need to explain why I personally want to enter the field of law enforcement.

That is a question only you can answer...why do you want to work in law enforcement? What is your motivation? Did something happen in your past that makes you seek out this type of work? Did any outside influence, a relative, a friend or a cop have a major influence in your life that was a cop? Have you, a friend, relative of acquaintance influenced your decision to pursue this line of work? If so, why and how?
Those are good placed to start.
If you are going into the profession to have control over people and situations, that it the wrong motive.

A lot of people are right, only you have the answer to the question. And there is no real "Correct" or "Right" answer to the question. It's a subjective question that gives the reviewers an insight as to what you know or believe Law Enforcement is about.
Be honest and sraightforward and don't try to BS.

If you really don't know, you probably should seriously
re-examine your career choice.
I suggest taking a course or two in law enforcement or constitutional law at a community college. That way, you can maybe learn more about what makes the PD seem so appealing.

Seriously, just write "why." Do not write all the PC BS you think they want to hear. Write what you feel.

OK, be honest. Tell them the moolah is good, you will have access to overtime pay whenever you want, meal allowances, free car and gas, and better yet, the security to gang up on minorities and have your buddies covering your back and denying wrongdoing
