I am allergic to Red Bull (I had one tiny sip and almost puked 10 minutes later). Does this mean I can't drink any kind of energy drinks like Monster, Tab, Amp, etc? I can drink MDX and Vault with no problems (they just make me bounce off the walls). Is it safe for me to drink energy drinks in the first place? I'm 14. Thanks!

I agree with several of the answerer's. At fourteen, you shouldn't be drinking energy drinks.

Please see your doc and tell him/her that you feel like your energy is low. Some tests will be done.

I have had iron-deficiency anemia for most of my life from menstruation (that time of the month). I had to have three surgeries two years ago correct the condition because the bleeding was getting progressively worse.

If you are a heavy bleeder, you may feel tired all of the time and that means you need iron and a good multi-vitamin and a balanced diet rich in iron.

Caffeine robs your bones of calcium. Calcium is very important so that you don't get osteoporosis as you get older.

Whether or not you plan to have children someday, it's important to eat as healthy as you can afford as your body is still at a point where it is still dependent on what you eat and drink to be healthy for yourself and your child/children that you may have in the future.

Like cigarettes, those energy drinks should be banned for teens because you don't know what the long term effects are.

Allergy testing is another option as your doc can determine what your immune system cannot tolerate.

If you like chocolate or malt in your milk, Ovaltine has lots of vitamins and it will give you some energy.

Don't delay though, see your doc.

First of all if you are only 14 you shouldn't be drinking such things in high quantities. High levels of caffeine and other energy substances can lead to addiction like effects when not used. Don't go overboard on these things like so many people I see at my college do.

However, all energy drinks are slightly different. They include different combinations of sugars, vitamins, caffeine and other substances to keep you going. Many of these ingredients are shared, but not all.

Because you can drink at least two different brands of energy drinks, you need to isolate what substances might be a contributing factor. I would compare the ingredient list on the cans of a drink you can drink and the red bull which you cannot. Then I would consult a physician about an allergy test along with some possibilities based on what you know so far. There are tests for a wide variety of allergies.

It is a good idea to try and isolate what it is that you are allergic to. Medical records can be updated with the information should you ever come across it in some form of medication or should you have a reaction to something and need to be brought in for care. It also makes you better able to avoid whatever it is that affects you.

It depends how much and how often you drink them. They are okay once in a while if you are going out, or really tired, but you shouldn't be drinking them all day every day.
The active ingredient in Red Bull is taurine, it could be that you are allergic to it, and not all energy drinks have the same ingredients. Just stay clear of the red bull. It could just have been a coincidence, you could try drinking a little bit again just to see if it really was the drink.

It's not Red Bull that you are allergic to but may be some component present in it..
Try fishing out that ingredient and go for drinks that do not contain that allergic stuff....simple...!!
