Wow, the views of one biased doctor. The sad thing is that most people who have a problem with homosexuality are going to use this to justify hate.
Thank god I live in the UK...

Wait a minute! Please hold phone here awhile; at least just enough to read here about whether science does indeed tell us that homosexuality is natural and healthy, or not. Doesn't the surgeon general need to be informed to some degree about all issues around the health sciences? If so, then, what's more important for this governmental public health professional to be concerned about; issues of fairness and justice, according to our limited perspectives, and sentiments around politically correct thinking? No, rather it is scientific fact. Alot of people here are emoting and not being rational enough to consider scientific inquiry about this human sexuality issue. And, if you did, I believe that you'll be quite surprised what you would find!
And what do we find from science? Today, we know that a San Francisco Bay study in the late 90's and a Dutch study (both very gay-friendly environments) in 2002 indicated that there is a much greater correlation with mental health disorders and gay and lesbian folks (i.e., the Dutch study found with gays: 7 times greater chance of having a depressive disorder, 4 times with a bipolar disorder, 4 times higher being alcoholic, etc.; with lesbians: 8 times higher chance of having a substance disorder, and the same with being a perpetrator or victim of domestic violence).
We also find that it is incorrect to promote the idea that one is born "gay" (see notation #1), and to believe that one must be called "gay" if they do experience same sex attractions (see notation #2) This last issue around unchangeability is quite clear by the research I just mentioned, as well as a mega study of various studies that found that 25% of boys at age 12 labeled themselves as "gay", 12% at age 16, 8% at age 18, and a little less than 4% between the ages of 21 and 25. (If anyone wants this particular reference, I'd be
glad to look it up for you.) Yes, it is scientifically inaccurate, let alone tragically misleading, to call anyone "gay", "bi", or
"straight", at least before the psychosexual age of
maturity (between 21 and 25).
Now, I ask you, why is it that we are told to identify
those who might (or might not!) go on to experience
same sex attractions, let alone before they even hit
puberty, as "gay", when it is clinically unethical,
let alone immoral, to identify those who appear to
show presdisposing symptoms of a disorder,
such as alcoholism, until they either begin salient
behavioral symptoms, or reach 18 years of age,
depending on the disorder? "Gay" is not what one is,
but rather what one does!
Now, is this really an issue about homophobia, or is it truthphobia and/or ignorance? I believe its quite the latter, wouldn't you, if my sources are indeed correct?

I thought that he had already claimed this homophobic nonsense, I found a link though for reading
Edit: Unnatural plus the religious lies can be disproved by the second and third link that I found. It was a bad choice to place the question here as you we're always more likely to get some homophobic religious people replying
Second edit: The president and his allies are all religious homophobes so it's no wonder that he's be playing to the ignorant and the hateful

I'm so glad that I don't have to live in the country where the government can do and say sh*t like that,.... And I'm SOOOO glad I don't have to live in the same country as the first 5 answerers.
How exactly is anybody's problem what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom?? Do you go knock at the doors of other couples and tell them that doggy style is sinful and that they should do it missionary style? Do you declare to heterosexual couples that anal sex is unhealthy an unnatural?!? No?!? So why gays then? The physics of gay anal sex are the exact same as of heterosexual anal sex, yet I don't see anybody going berserk over that.
SUCH HYPOCRISY.

That is so wrong. I'm not gay, but I stand up for them. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING GAY.
And about the new Surgeon General being Christian? I have a question for all the rest of them: If "God" doesn't like homosexuals, then why would "he" create them?
Oh my gosh, there is absolutely nothing WRONG with it! A person's sexual preference doesn't affect your life in anyway, so WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU CARE?!
(I'm sorry this didn't answer your question, but the answers on here were going to make me explode if I didn't say something.)

There is evil in this world, and guess what, its not homosexuals, is people like Mr. President Bush, and his army of ignorant fools.
Homosexuality is not unhealthy, nor is it unnatural. Homosexuals and bisexuals are as normal as anyone else. And i hope that everyone can be healthy, you know its hard when there are so many things you can catch, like, the flu, or PMS.
I do not know of this man, and i hope its not true.

My opinion on homosexuality is going to remain un-discussed here, as i dont think this has title anything to do with homosexuality per-say.....
Its MORE to do with a public figure-head who is meant to represent a nation and care for his public, acting like a playground bully/moron.
Lets think of this situation in this light;
2 kids in a playground, they both have their favourite toy in with them to school....
Kid 1: Hey look at my toy, isnt it pretty cool?! :)
Kid 2 looks distainfully at it: NO!, i think your toy is really crappy!, mine is far better!.
Kid 1: Hey!, thats not fair!.... my toy is pretty damn good too!, and "I" dont think yours is any better!.
Kid 2: You are an idiot then!, my toy is SO much cooler, look!.... its like everyone elses!.... yours is just.... weird.
Kid 1: Dont say that!, its not fair!.... my toy is perfectly good!.
Kid 2: Kid 3!!, come over here!!!
*kid 3 walks over, the big schoolyard heavyweight"
Kid 3: Whats up?!
Kid 2: Isnt his toy sooo weird and crappy compared to mine!?
Kid 3 pauses.... Yeah, yeah it is!, his is stupid!
Kid 1 is lost for words...
Kid 2 shouts: Hey everyone!, listen here!!!, Kid 3 Has something to say...
Kid 3 in bellowing voice: Everyone!, Kid 1 has a really crappy weird toy!, what the hell does he think hes doing?.... lets gang up on him and try to take it off him!, he shouldnt be allowed to have it!...
Kid 2: YEAH!, lets break it!, with kid 3's help we cant fail!!!!
This is the kind of pathetic schoolyard closed minded scenario that i am reminded of when i see this "george bush and his christian surgeon" rubbish..... I dont need to add anything to this i dont think....
THE CAST;
Kid 2: George Bush....
Kid 3: The Christian Surgeon General
Kid 1: ..... YOU decide.
