We pay veternarians hundreds or thousands of dollars to heal cats and dogs while many people can't afford medicine and treatment. Some even condone their defacation on public property. You may know people who treat their dogs like children. A wise man once said if you see two beings, and one is carrying the other's ****, who's in charge? So why do we buy dog biscuits and doggy day care while being inconsiderate to our fellow man?
Dogs can be autonomous, and you can be nice and have a dog, your car just smells funny.

In Britain at least it seems dogs and cats are given better treatment than people sometimes. Think of the fuss over stray, unwanted dogs...ads on tv programmes to get them homes etc. Then think of all the old people who live alone, who need company and whose kids are too busy shopping or holidaying or just doing their own thing to look after them or even keep them company sometimes. It's great to look after animals, but people come first.

I think some people do, but those are the same jerks out there that were jerks before they got "Fifi."

I am a crazy dog person who takes their dog to day care and even has him in family photos, but I am also very conscious of treating my fellow humans with respect.

Bottom line: a jerk is a jerk whether they have a dog or not.

PS: And you're right, the cargo area in my car does smell funny and is covered in Golden Retriever hair. I wouldn't have it any other way!

With the way people are nowadays, I don't blame anyone for liking dogs more than people.

What have we got:

1. People being unaccountable for their actions, blaming their stupidity on restaurants, manufacturers, other people.
2. Rude, discourteous people, who seem to think the world revolves around them
3. Idiotic drivers... this could very well be a novel for all the idiots I've seen on the road. NO respect for others on the road at ALL
4. People are so self absorbed. I read about someone who was laying on the floor in a store, stabbed and dying. People walked around her and one person took a picture of her on his cell phone!!! Whatever happened to people helping people! BTW, that girl died. Who knows if she would have still died if only someone helped her!
5. Welfare. Sure some don't want to be on it, but enough people abuse it that hearing someone is on welfare is a negative thing.
6. We have 12 million people here illegally that could not bother to follow our laws, and that is because we can't seem to enforce our OWN darned laws. We have many people attempting to come in here legally. And our President wants to give 12 million people a free ride and basically screw over those trying to get in here legally. Way to go!
7. Murderers, rapists, cheating spouses, incest, sexual molestation, etc etc.

I could go on and on and on, but I really don't blame people for taking care of their dogs more than other people.

I hate dogs as much as I hate other people. It's just too bad that people (and dogs) can't be more like cat's.

Definitely, and I just don't understand people's dependence on pets. I seems very sick to me.
