you know i have wonderded that same question.
not really certain of his walk with GOD , but just knowing that he was entrusted with GOD's word and and as a leader of the RCC , knowing what the bible teaches and still encouraging prayers to the saints and and teaching Mary is a co -redemptress and other man made tradions the church teaches . goes against commandments 1 & 2.

to whomever much is given , much is required.. luke 12:48
alot of the RCC teahcings are traditons of man. not GOD's commandments. our SAVIOR addresses that exact thing in MARK 15:1-6..

we just have to remember we serv a Just and Righteuos GOD and what ever his judgement is it is a Righteous one . that goes for everyone of course not just the Pope . but if you have been born again of the spirit as JESUS teaches in John 3 and obey his commandments including 1 &2 about worshiping false gods or any other engraven images , which is contrary to the RCC teachings.

as a former catholic who belived i was saved cuz i was baptized as a baby( which is not biblical by the way) i was very certain of my salvation up untill the time i got save 4 yrs ago tomorrow. and hated to talked to any born again, now that i am able to read and understand GOD's word because HIS spirit lives in me . i now know and look back at all those times i could've died and gone to hell because of my pride and ignorance of GOD's word.

and the scripture that opened my eyes soon after i got saved was Matt 6:7 when JESUS tells us "when yo pray , do not use vain repititons as the heathen do . for they think they will be heard for thier many words. as soon as i read that i tought of all those time g-ma and i said the rosery over and over and over. again NOT biblical just an RCC traditon..

but i don't think i would wanna be in his shoes . knowing exactly what JESUS teaches on the sermon of the mount Matt 5-7 and still saying that the tradions of the church superceeds the word of GOD is a sacry Place to be...

Praise GOD ... for John 3:16-17

You're mixing your religious teachings between Catholic and Protestant.
Catholics don't take the phrase "born again" to mean the same thing as Protestants. Also, Catholics and Protestants don't interpret the Bible in the same way at all.
Of course Pope John Paul II didn't go to hell. You can only go to hell by making choices against God and choosing to go there yourself because you don't love God. That's Catholic teaching. I doubt that anyone exists who could think for a second that JPII didn't love God.

Catholics are spiritually born again (and again and again) through:
+ Belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior
+ Living the Gospel to the best of our ability
+ Daily rededicating ourselves to Jesus Christ
+ Receiving new life in Baptism
+ The forgiveness of sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation
+ The infusion of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands in Confirmation
+ Taking the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ into our bodies through the Eucharist (Holy Communion)
+ Even during the penitential season of Lent

These are a few ways that Catholics are spiritually born again. We usually just don't use those words.

With love in Christ.

Not to say that I believe in or support any of these ideas--

But being "born again" just means accepting Jesus as your savior. I would imagine that the Pope did that long ago.

What, I think you may have religions confused here, this isn't Buddhism or Hinduism, there is no reincarnation in Christianity. I would imagine the Pope (epitamy of holiness that he is) would go to Heaven.

Thats only if you beleive in being a born again christian.

Don't force your beleifs onto others.

Plus the pope is a catholic and the 'born again' principle isn't used by them.

Not to my knowledge he wasn't born again, so yes he went to Hell.

The Bible clearly states: yet ye be born again, you can not enter the Gates of Heaven. It also says, no one can come to the Father unless they came through him (Jesus Christ). The pope prayed to mary not Jesus Christ. , He couldn't have gotten born again unless he prayed to Jesus Christ and asked for his mercy, grace and forgiveness and accepted him as his Lord and Savior.

he was born again in the waters of baptism. he was gods earthly representative the same as peter was as instituted by jesus, he is "kicking it" with the other saints, the blessed mother and Jesus.

You can only go to hell if you totally reject God.
