If a question is serious...I try to give a serious answer, from experience...I have 2 great kids...part of being great is they have a sense of humor...when they were little I loved the artwork...now my 16 year old wants a coloring book ???? I think I'll try to find a little mermaid one for her....maybe I'll even hang a pic on the fridge ?
Seriously....your 100% correct...a sense of humor is important..if you want your kids to have one!
But what did you mean by it would be great if they could fix momm a drink???? teach them, bartenders make great money...it's a future job skill!

I have 3 children of my own and 4 stepchildren, I love every single one of them dearly, and I agree and know what your talking about, they will do all of those things. but as a parent you want to try to teach them to do the right things, so you try to do things by the book the best that you can, and you do allow little things to slide every once in awhile. but a good mother will do their best to steer their child in the right direction. so yes we get on here sounding frusturated at the silliest little things but it helps us to know we're not going threw this alone, there is people out there going threw the same things. but I will say I do try to raise my kids with good values, but I also laugh and joke and play with them to. I will sit and talk with my daughter and friends for hours as if I'm their age, but still be the mother and let them know when they do wrong!

I think every parent should not follow the book and instead follow their heart and do what's best for their children, and to make sure that they go on the right path while respecting the people who are steering the wheel.

Depends, You have to choose your battles. If you feel comfortable letting your kids room get messy, and just close the door, it's up to you on how you want them to grow up. My mom said out of sight out of mind kind of thing.... Not that I choose to live that way or let my kids do that, it depends on what is acceptable to you.... Like my daughter will change her clothes oh........let's say...humm... 10 times a day....! I don't get mad because it just what she does. Yeah my kids are not Picasso, but the think they are.....so why not let them keep busy and out of my hair.... I choose to set rules and I let my kids get away with somethings, but when it comes to homework or important things I make sure they are done. And the one thing I do with my kids it try to help them understand why they have to do things. I always hated when my mom told me -Because I said so.....kind of thing....! So do I live by the book? Depends on what's going on and take one day at a time.....otherwise I stress myself out and it's not worth it..... If you are up tight your kids will not know what's it's like to relax and not know the difference between work and play...............That's my motto.....

I wish I could be amused by boogers on the wall. Those who have learned to laugh are truly blessed. I aspire to learn someday.
