It's been Established that the Bible has been horribly torn to pieces by Kings and had parts removed and destroyed, And that the translators admit that it could be Way off, and on top of that there has been an inability to Even get Three of the same Numbers that appear Consecutively correct.

So why on Earth when establishing that the bible is unreliable do religious people turn towards the bible and quote it, and cite passages from something thats Obviously corrupted and most likely incorrect to prove a Point or enforce their Bliefs?

It's like trying to show someone how a Machine works, when the machine is Broken, It doesn't make any sense... and it might not even be the right machine, and some parts have been substituted and may not even be right or are totally Gone.

I just don't get it.

Do you know why the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls was so important? They found the originals of Isaiah's (I think) writings. Compared with a modern day bible, it was shown that there were only grammatical errors between the two. By what you stated above, that is a miracle in my book.

Actually the Bible has proven to be remarkably well preserved in comparisons to other texts that people take as fact. There are thousands of examples of Biblical writing in fragments from a much earlier time period than any other ancient book. There are two complete Greek versions of the New Testament that date from about 350 AD that is almost exactly perfect in comparison to modern translations. There are Copies of John that have been dated between 90-100 AD in Egypt which is roughly 60 years after the death of Christ in a different country in a different language than the original Greek. The early biographies of Alexander the Great that are considered accurate before the installment of a bunch of legendary material are those done by Plutarch and Arrian 400 years after his death. So why is it so hard to believe that the Bible is accurate? All the facts point to it being correct and with the same meaning today as it did when it was written.

It's been "Established" that the Bible has been horribly torn to pieces by Kings and had parts removed and destroyed, ...

>are we talking about modern translations or what? or are you talking about the dead sea scrolls & some "older" copy or even the "earliest" copies of the NT?

And that the translators "admit" that it could be Way off, ...

>again, modern translators or who are we talking about here?

So why on Earth when "establishing" that the bible is "unreliable" ...

I just don't get it.

>ok, the way i see it, is that you see what you want to see... (just like everyone else)

>but some people are saying that the bible IS a reliable source of history or an accurate historical accounts (especially the NT) is because of the same criteria on how we as rational man have deemed as "reliable" ALL other ancient historical documents... (remember no one alive today can vouch for anything written down at that time)

>so if you believe all your greek history, your roman history, all of their other contemporary histories, you should believe the historical account of at least the new testament bible for it is by far more "reliable" than those writings that we base all our other histories in.

>yes indeed, something to think about...

I really don't know where your information comes from. I am aware that there have been some questions about some of the translation. But the questions and concerns are no where near as bad as you are making them out to be. Simply put, you are over dramatizing this. I know that depending on which religion you belong to. They have chosen to omit some books and use others in there Bible. I have never heard of anyone destroying any of the known books.
I think your are trying to instigate something.
Grow up !!!

What are you talking about?

If you're claiming the Bible is false, CITE A SOURCE. I don't believe a word of what you've said because you haven't provided any evidence. Saying to take a course isn't citing a source. Provide some real evidence.

So, because of that simple fact, you're question is invalid.

I'm not a brainwashed person. I was raised as an atheist and after looking at the evidence and believe that the atheists are wrong. There is no way life could begin without some kind of intelligent creator. That creator is God, which is shown through the Bible, which actually has more transcripts to be compared to (one of which is the Dead Sea Scrolls, as mentioned below) than some of the documents today considered the most reliable, which only have a few transcripts for comparison. God is the only real choice for me to believe in. It's either believe in God, or believe that life started from random chance calculated to be 1 in 10^60. I find that believing in God is the choice that makes the most sense.

By the way, I've looked through many of the websites in the response above, and I've come to the same conclusion, that they are all invalid. They provide no real evidence other than "common sense", which isn't evidence at all.

The answer is that most people don't bring any intellectual curiosity to their religion. I've been there and done that for sure. It's SO much easier to say "the church and/or the Bible believe and teach this, so I accept it" than it is to ask an intelligent question like yours and deal with the consequences. Because then you have to really think long and hard about the path you're on, who your leaders and teachers are, and where it's going to lead you spiritually.
In other words, they're taking the easy way out by swallowing whatever they're told.

Dude it's simple. Some crap quoted in the bible like earth is flat is ridiculous. So what the christians say is that a false prophet wrote the things that does not make sense in the Bible. In that sense, they still believe in this book where false prophets may have written any page of the Bible who knows?
Christians are ignorant and stupid, don't think too much dude.

The reason why Christians continue to see the Bible as the true "Word of God", even though it has obviously been corrupted, is because of faith. They have faith that if God has allowed the Bible to continue as it is and be presented by the various Christian churches as the "Word of God", then it MUST BE SO. If it weren't the true "Word of God", then God would have not allowed it to continue to exist as it is for so long.

Please remember (and it is definitely true in this instance) that faith has absolutely nothing to do with logic. Trying to get through to people of faith by using logic is usually a major waste of time. Keep trying, though. I have faith that you will eventually succeed. *pun intended*

I just don't get how you people keep posting the same nonsense over and over like a worn-out song. It's been listened to until it no longer is amusing. We turned the channel a long time ago. Generalizations by people who can't give examples are boring in any age.
