I can see how it may sound to someone who doesn't understand it, but it is true. :)

The saying originates from the New King James version of The Bible. In Revelations 1:5 it said "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and WASHED US FROM OUR SINS IN HIS OWN BLOOD, " (emphasis added by me)
This is largely just a way for John to express that our sins were removed through the shedding of Christ's blood, and is actually a poignant way of expressing this because most (all?) people would find a bath of blood revolting, and yet it was the spilling of Christ's blood that brought us salvation.
Feel free not to take it literally. :-)
Sincerly,
Jacob Wilson

washed in the blood of Jesus is not literal! it doesnt actually mean u have to wash yourself in His blood. it's a symbolic term or metaphor for becoming pure at heart. when u r washed in the blood of Jesus, u become baptized and saved into becoming a member of God's Kingdom!

Sacrifice is required for forgiveness and Christ was the sacrifice for you, because of that when God looks at you what he sees is someone redeemed. Do you actually have to be washed in blood for this to happen? No, it is symbolism.
