I'm not sure how they'd be ''hypocrites''. Many cat-lovers feed stray and feral cats, because someone should. They may not have the finances, or the space, to bring these cats into their own home, but feeding them and even providing outside shelter is better than doing nothing.

I live in Cyprus where there are thousands of stray and feral cats who are regarded as little more than vermin by many. Sadly there are too few animal welfare organisations to cope with the number of homeless animals here.

I live in an apartment with two feral cats that I adopted from the streets. Much as I would love to have more, my landlord woudn't be too happy about it, and I don't think it would be fair to keep more than two cats in an apartment. There are four feral cats who regularly turn up for food at the complex where I live. Myself and a neighbour feed them three times a day, regularly treat them for fleas and worms and try to take care of their medical needs as best we can. Fortunately, I have found a compassionate vet who charges reduced prices for treating homeless animals. I try to find these cats good homes, but it's not easy because everyone I know has ended up adopting strays already.

Personally, the people that I consider to be hypocrites are the ones who take on pets here and then abandon them when they return to their home country, because pet travel is not cheap. Every week in the local newspaper there are adverts for cats or dogs whose "loving owner" is moving abroad and cannot take them with them. I always think it must be worse for a family pet to suddenly have to cope with living on the streets, than for a feral cat who knows no other life.

Why hypocrites?

Alot of my friends and I who are cat lovers feed stray cats, we would take them in but we have enough cats of our own we cant take more so might as well feed the ones who have no home. I called a Vet friend who takes in stray cats and gives them good homes but not everyone has vet friend who will do this free of charge.

the bad guys are the irresponsible people who abandon cats and throw them out in the street in the first place not the people who take a few minutes of their day to feed them.

If you were hungry and walking the streets, a very small cat, wouldn't you want someone to stop and feed you? I think you are the hypocrite.

Why would they be hypocrites? They love the cats. They can't take them all in their house, but at least they provide food, and often medical care. I know I do.

I don't think they're hypocrites. They are most likely cat-lovers who really care[:
