How can you believe in god without any proof? I honestly do not know how anyone can 100% believe in god. What makes/made you believe in god. I mean you look at other religions and "know" they aren't right and they think the same thing about you.

Salvation is not a product of simply believing but accepting the atonement God provided. Is it not enough that a perfect sinless God paid with his flesh the penalty for your sin but also he should force you to accept it?

The question of the century. Alright, many Christians believe in God %100 because they were raised to, and know nothing else. Others, because they have personally witnessed miracles and attribute it to God. The last group, my least favorite, are those too ignorant to even look into those other religions (or lack there of), and claim that those who are not like them are the ignorant ones. Everyone else doesn't believe %100 or doesn't believe at all. I think the 2nd has the best justification, personally, but I would never try to uproot someone elses entire belief system, and so I will end my answer here. Also one more thing, more often then not people apply tothe 1st AND 3rd group, or all three.

People believe in god because they need to believe in god. People need to believe in god because the way they think about the world was formed during their first few years when they had a god. Their mother (and maybe father) fed them, provided shelter for them, answered their prayers, and punished them when they were bad. They were told time and time again that if they did good, they would have a great after (childhood) life. But if they were bad and mean to others they would reap what they had sown by being stuck with a dead end miserable existence (i.e. hell.)

It's easy for people to believe in god. All they have to do is follow their hearts. All they have to do is find something to fill the emptiness that they experienced when they discovered that their parents were not infallible and were not all powerful.

Of course, results will vary according to culture and how desperate they are to find a cozy adult childhood as a believer.

When you travel around the world and see countries that have large cities with millions of people and only a handful Christian churches because the majority of the population is Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, or you name it... the question of God is bound to surface in your mind.

How can these millions of people not know or practice the Christian belief? According to the Christians these millions of people will be going straight to hell and even worse, if you've been to these places you will have seen how lovely these very people are and the idea that the Christian God would potentially damn them to eternal hell for their ways is just not very comforting.

Yes, I have experienced a "crisis" when I traveled to such places. I kept thinking it was impossible for a rigid set of guidelines to exist because if it is true that God is love, then how could you love someone and throw them into the fire. I'm not even capable of doing this.

I learned to look for the common ground in these various beliefs. They all tend to believe in doing good, they all believe in a God (though some do believe in more than one of varying degrees), and basically, the core of the variety of religious views is the same in some essence or manner.

Regarding proof of a God, that is something that depends on an individual. There are people who live by the principle of "gotta see it to believe it". I personally can't adopt this because it doesn't only limit my mind spiritually, but this would have to include everything I can't see. Prove to me that there was a Christopher Columbus or that the Earth's atmosphere has an ozone layer... I can go on and on with things I've known and not personally seen.

Our spiritual side is something that I can relate to more than I could relate to the north pole on this earth, because the spiritual side, to me, is a lot more tangible than I once thought possible.

You don't have to have proof something exists to have faith. But there is proof he exists you just have to pay attention.. God may not give you everything you want but he does give you everything you NEED! When you are in dire need of money and you're walking down the street and find 5 dollars.. that's God! See, it's all the little things that we don't recognize that God blesses us with. You and I are blessed, we are blessed to be typing on this computer right now, to have a house, and most importantly to have our health. So when you say how can you believe in God with no proof... the proof is all around you.

The universe and your existence is already a good proof of God existence. What do you think created such a complex system as what we have now? It is too good to exist just by coincidence.

As for the religions, it is really come from the same source but it was altered to suit someone needs. As a human, one of the important task is for us to choose the right one. Look around you and seek for His guidance. He will show you the truth.

I do have proof but as you said it is not 100% just like nothing else is 100%. I took the evidence and made a choice by a "leap of faith" that everybody has to take no matter what they believe. I however am completely confident in my choice.

I was a Atheist until I had a experience with the Holy Ghost. I know 100% that there is a God and he love me. I got a Big Big Mighty Mighty God. You have to believe and have faith to see, you can't have doubt there is no place for doubt. By believeing and having faith I have had God work many miracles in my life. My life is different and so much better since becoming a believer.

How do you know you will be alive tomorrow. There is no proof. You either are or are not.

There are many things we take on faith. Belief in God is one of them. The hope for eternal life is another.

You will never know if something is right or not. Especially if it is not visible to us. We have no idea what it is like after death (even with a near death experience). We don't even know what God is spirit really means.

We listen to the words of the prophets with hope that we learn wisdom.

Wow. You are so right. I don't understand how anyone could believe in god without any proof either. It's faith based, religion does not have scientific proof. I always thought it was interesting that the same thing that causes wars is what preaches love and tolerance for everybody. Ironic if you ask me. I mean just about every war I can think of was fought in the name of god but I thought god loved everyone. If god loves everyone why would want them to die?
