I have adopted 2 kittens two days ago from the shelter. and they both are 4 months old. and they are playful and good, however i have noticed that one kitten bites the other one in the neck, now i don't know if this is being playful or if this is out of jealousy because sometimes the other kitten(that gets bitten) gets more attention by other people than the other one.now, when the kitten bites the other kitten in the neck, both of them don't hiss, or make a sound, however the kitten that gets bitten in the neck sometimes kicks the other kitten with it's legs when being bitten. can someone please tell me what is going on?
P.S. they are both males and are brothers, both 4 months old and not trouble makers.

Kittens learn instincts by playing. This is how they would kill their prey out in the wild. It sounds to me like they are just being playful little kittens and you should worry! :-)

That's the way kittens play. Don't worry. That is how they learn not to be aggressive in the future, because the kitten that gets bitten, as you said, kicks the other one, so sets some limits. Probably the biting one is trying to establish some sort of dominance, of being the alpha male. Someone has to be. However, make sure to neuter them when they are 6-7 months old, because later dominance will be shown with worse things (humping, etc.). It's the cats' nature, don't blame the kitten.

I've had cats my whole life all different ages, and my boyfriend has four cats they play like that all the time. You shouldn't worry unless one is getting so aggressive like if there is bleeding or any serious injury to the other cat - the other cat kicks just to play-fight back. Its like two human brothers wrestling and competing for attention. Cats are like this. If you think its too aggressive you can just pull them apart (not separate them entirely just pull them away from each other so they stop)
But you should understand that cats don't sit down and play chess for fun lol, they wrestle and chase each other. If there isn't any hissing or growling then let them play.
Try giving them alot of equal attention.

I have a female and a male cat, brother and sister. 3 years old this month, they grew up together biting, kicking and punching / slapping each other. They still to this day have what i would call wrestle matches, sometimes a few times a day (on a good day) not out of anger but as play and away for him or her to sharpen up their hunting skills. If they are doing this out of anger, believe me cats can scream! lol. My old cats were fighting street cats. Ive watched my Siamese cat, Cricket, fight other neiborhood cats for years. She passed away this past spring she was close to 17 years old. At 4 months is still young. I would imagine rival would be at a later point in time.

They're just playing but I undertand it is often hard to tell as they seem so rough with each other.
Two of my cats were from the same litter and they did the same thing, in face they still do and they're 6 now, I'd just keep an eye on them still though.. Sometimes they can't judge how hard they're biting, one of mine ended up with an infection once because the other bit it too hard..
You can try and encourage them not to do it, by say lifting the biting one of and putting him somewhere else and saying no..
But the success in that is not guaranteed (we do that and as I said it still happens now and again),

I think they are just playing rough. It doesn't sound like the one being bitten complains. If he did, and the biter didn't stop, then I'd worry a bit, perhaps. Give them toys to play with, like a few ping pong balls, and get them playing with their toys so the play isn't only chewing on each other. Make sure that you get them neutered.

I have 3 cats and they do almost the same thing. They are probably just playing around. Try giving them little toys or some yarn to keep one from biting the other.

We had a set of brother kittens once that did the same thing. It's a dominance issue. One feels a need to ''remind'' his brother that he's in charge. Obviously, the brother doesn't mind enough to tell him to ''back off'', so he just sits there and lets him do it.

This is normal kitten play for that age. They're working out who is supposed to be in charge, so you need to let them settle it.
