I am average looking, but I do not want to dance alone. I have done salsa before but never been to a ballroom before. any advise would be helpful.

Ask around your friends, if you can't find a guy, go with a girlfriend. At most Ballrooms, there are a load of single guys, who are learning to dance, just hoping to meet girls.
You can't dance with yourself, whether you are male or female.
If worse comes to worse, go by yourself. Provided, it's a safe neighborhood. Take a look around, and if there isn't any likely looking candidates, turn around and leave. Or just hang around and get the feel of the place.
Usually, those places are fun to be at, and you know the music they will be playing.
Go, and if you cant find a guy, get a girl, but just go, and have fun.

Are you kidding? Just go to any salsa club and you will have plenty of opportunities to dance! Salsa is the one dance where I think looks don't have as much importance as actual dancing skill--you will have plenty of opportunities to dance! I promise. :)

well obviously boys like a 'hot chick' so get a hot looking outfit. not too revealing but one that's nice. wear high healsand go to a hair dresser and get the best hair do you can afford. its the look that counts.
but i mean, i'm sure there'll be someone who'll wanna dance with you, so don't sweat it. Just go and be yourself. but if you're really that eager then do what you have to do to look good.
