War is something that has existed since the existence of humanity. There is no avoiding it. It will follow us until the end of human civilization.
That said, the reason why religion is so prevalent is because it invokes incredibly strong feelings amongst its followers. All around the world people believe together in something larger than themselves and inherently believe that their own beliefs and principles are true and righteous.
Because we see our own beliefs as the correct one, it stands to reason that we wish to promote such views. Those strong feelings leads to bigotry and hatred which can turn into a widespread conflict.
Human beings will fight for something they believe in. We see it every day with the conflict in the middle east but it extends to more than just that. A mother may be willing to give up he own life to protect her child, or an ethnic group may uprise against a prejudiced government and establish their own as occurred with the collapse of European colonial territories in Asian and Africa following WWII.
The important thing to realize is that no one person starts a war. It inherently takes thousands and in modern times even millions of people to bring the destruction of War. Because organized religion is a foundation of human society, it is natural for it to be linked to conflicts. We make associations based on us versus them and negative feelings turn to hate based on assumptions and not on the actual people. That is mankind's ultimate folly.
It is true that nearly all of the world's religions teach peace. Just remember that war is never simple and nearly never a single issue as the driving factor. To say war based on religion alone is oversimplification.

No, Actually the point of religion has always seemed to give humanity the answers so they can not have to think or come up with their own ideas about the nature of reality. Tell them an afterlife of what ever fashion to the religion will be had if one follows the terms of Service for said religion and all is well. It keeps them pretty busy. But there are more than one religion saying their piece. What's a scared human to do? They already have a religion, so that other religion over there must be the work of which ever bad-guy their religion believes they must hate.
"Peace" as you say, is just another side shot of what religion does, that is, filling up it's memberships by selling empty promises. The "Religious" are not only large in number, but have that extra speaking power that they could easily shout down the war if they wished... merely an assumption.

Some people don't even understand the basic knowledge of religion. That is why they misunderstand and take that different religions on this earth leads to war and destruction. Religion is nothing so to say. It is just a kind of school where we all learn how to cope with our spiritual life, where we can attain love peace and harmony among families, friends, neighbours and people all over the country and the world. No religion on this earth teaches to harm, kill, steal, lies and what not. Love all religions and not to hate them. The more people understand, the better will be the world.

The two major religions--Christianity and Islam-- believe in the ultimate reward for love of God and neighbor which is peace. What was Jesus' greeting to his disciples? Peace be with you. What is the greeting that Mohamad encourages muslims to give? Assalammalikum which means Peace be with you. To defend peace one must be willing to do do everything including war. That's just the way it is. Who is wrong? In war, no one is wrong, only death.
Why hate other religions? Because one believes that the other is threatening there peace and so they defend it and so they go to war.

Religion does not mean peace. Religious is just a a groups a people who believe in God or in a fictitious god. Some religions were created by men. For example you may have heard of a place, in Africa I think, where people themselves make other human to be their god. Is that religious? yes. is that a real god? no.
That is why you see war in religion. Because religion doe snot meant that the religious people have to be peaceful. Any one interested economically in something can create a religious group just to make money or to fee with power over a groups of people. Few religions are real peaceful and not artificial. Saying that you are Christian doe snot meake you even Christian.

Where did you get "Religions suppose to teach peace.." from?
Even Jesus said:
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn
'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law
a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'
Matt 10:34-36.
No, it's not all about peace.

Religions are also organizations and like every organization it needs to be relevant and useful so that they can continue to exist. So who drives these organizations .. the priests, elders, etc. They have to differentiate from other religions and entrench beliefs in the followers so that the followers in turn rely on them. And for this reason they cause the masses to go to hate, to despise and go to war with other. Religions are organized crime against humanity.

Religion is dangerous. There is no "cure" for religion, there is no way to "fix" religion so it will not harm people. Religion needs to be eliminated. It is the only way the human race will survive. That seems like a bold statement, but it is true.

Religion is the main reason for man killing man for the past six thousand years of civilization. Perhaps it’s time we tried to live without it and really give humanity a chance to progress.

Religion controls people. It makes them submissive. I would be at peace if religious leaders have integrity, speak the truth, and not use their power to manipulate.
