Yeppers, I agree. 12 is a great age.
I let my son drive on country roads around that age and he drove on the college parking lot. There was lots of yield signs and stop signs so that was great experience for him.
Of course I was in the car with him. He never got to drive alone until he turned 16 and got his Drivers License & Insurance.
He is 21 years old now.

Of course 12 is too young. There are these things called laws. They say how old... 14 at the earliest though.

12 isn't too young to drive in parking lots. As long as your kid isn't driving out on any main streets...it should be fine

My Boy friend( which now my hubby) taught me at 13-14 years, even though i never got my licence until i was 18. Im now 19 about to hit 20 next month.

I think when you seen them fit to and mature and responsible to be driving.
Driving is not a joy of life but a responsibility which they have to earn i think. They need to learn to drive safly and not wrecklessy, even in front of friends.

Just remember that once you let your child drive, your car insurance goes waaaaaayyyyy up and then if the kid crashes, you're responsible for all the cost. Wait until they're alot older and shows responsibility where he/she can pay for their own car insurance. Good luck.

yes. 12 is too young, but you should start practicing from 14-16. if your child is 12, i think you should just let them control the steeting wheel for now, it helps them control their driving when their older.
