Went out with a male colleague for dinner 7mo. ago. He practically inhaled his food. I felt offended. He's treating me on my birthday. Taking me out to dinner. I don't want him to have a repeat performance this time. I text him," let's do our best not to inhale our food. Looking forward to your company and dinner with you." This time, I really did not want to beat around the bush. He's Russian and I find him direct to the point. Probably something to do with their culture. Some people find him rude but I think that's the way he is. Now, if I tell you what I told him, how would you react. Straight shooters out there tell me your reaction..

If a woman said that to me on a date I wouldn't be offfended as long as it was said in a friendly manner; not nagging. If he is so easily offended that this statement bothers him, he might not be "boyfriend material". Also, maybe he was eating so fast because was nervous.

I would think you're implying that I scarf my food down too fast, and you think I should slow down. Could be an insult. In reality, I'm a slow eater, like company that's why.

Don't say it that way, just say something like "I want to linger over dinner with you... let's take our time." Sounds better, right?

I go out for dinner with my girlfriend often and she still vacuums her food. No matter how many times I tell her this is what she is doing she never changes. Many times I've told her it would be nice if she learn to dine and not vacuum her food.

It sounds a bit sarcastic to me. He is who he is and that was pretty much a personal attack on him. If the previous dinner was about being in a rush, then its not personal. But you attacked his personality, and when you do that you lose your friends.

I depends on the person.
i would think you were so rude i wouldn't go in a date, but obviously he is being a rude eater to do that in front of you so he would take no offence.

I guess I'd think you were being funny indicating "we should eat in moderation"
I'd include you too lmao
Or if you were the type that eats like a bird--I'd think you were calling me a fat pig!

Unless you were my wife or GF, I could probably care less what you thought about the way I ate. He probably could care less about your opinion too.
