I prefer gospel music and different types of gospel music, southern (because I live North Carolina in the South), some contemporary. I really prefer Apostolic gospel groups, such as, The McGruders, The Livingstons, etc. I will admit that I listen to music from the 70's and 80's on an older station, brings back a lot memories from my school days.

Well since I gotten my Sansa; I mostly listen to Gospel, but I do enjoy smooth jazz, and even R&B, however I try not because this basic is about a person, and it is mostly not spiritual in nature ,so I tend to shy away from it. but I like it. I just want to change the words around for my own convience; and bless the music, but my faviorites are Bebe and Cece Winans, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and of Course kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and many others, but in Jazz I like a variety, but my favorites are Paul Hardcastle, Peter White, Santana, Bob James, David Sanborn, and in Opera Kathleen Battle, yes I like opera to.

I like oldies and alternative mostly. The only Christian song I like is the Lord's Prayer. It came out in the 70s. It's got that 60s-early 70s Groovy sound to it. It was sung by a nun who left the nunnery I guess.
There is another song about God you might like by a group called the Sundays. It's called 'Dear God'
One lyric ' Dear God, sorry to disturb you but I think you could make it better down here...'
Check them both out.

I have quite a bit of gospel in my collection. My personal gospel favorite is Rev. Gary Davis, and if you have never heard what he can do with a guitar - nevermind the books - you should check him out.
My personal tastes are Blues, Rock, and *lots* of Grateful Dead.

if it sounds cool, i'll listen to it. i just don't like super-negative stuff. that being said, i still think my favorite is punk... real punk, not poppy punk. and there's actually a lot of hard rock and metal out there with christian themes nowadays. thank God for that! lol. when i first converted, i was silly enough to think i shouldn't listen to secular music anymore, or that i should stop playing loud music, but i've found i can jam to the glory of God, so that's cool. i'm trying to save money now so i can write contemporary christian music on my computer. i've been involved with music all my life, and i love all styles of music.
there's some good holy hip hop out there. you should give it a second chance.
