1. Do you get married?
2. Do you believe it is wrong for your partner to cheat on you?
3. Do you consider Atheism a religion or simply a lack thereof?
The reason for the first question is that I don't know of any place you can get married that isn't "under God"....
The reason for the second question is that if you don't believe in God where do you get the idea that cheating is a problem? That seems to be a moral issue and without God I'm curious to know where those morals come from. Furthermore, if we are here purely because of science then isn't our job to mate and procreate, in which case wouldn't it be more efficient to have sex with many people?
And, I'm asking the third question simply because my fiance and I were arguing about it earlier today.

I'm not saying that Atheists have no morals....I'm simply wondering where those morals come from. I have nothing against Atheists. Also, I'm curious to know why you would join in a union blessed by a God that you don't believe in. And, by not believing in God aren't you really believing that there is no God in which case it could be defined as a religion?

What I meant by "here because of science" is that you apparently believe wholly in evolution....which last time I checked was science.

Since you are all apparently peeved that I must think Atheism is a bad thing, let me explain myself a little more. First of all, I'm Jewish, but I "tried" other religions before deciding. I was Atheist all through high school. Then I looked into a few forms of Christianity and Judaism before deciding, so I'm not here to put anybody down, I was just asking questions. I capitalize Atheism because I consider it a religion, and religions should be capatalized.

I'm married. Yes I think it's "wrong" to cheat on someone you've vowed to remain faithful to. Atheism is a lack of belief in the existence of gods. That's how the word actually breaks down "without god belief".
What the monkey does "here because of science" mean? Do you think that atheists assert that all life arose because of SCIENCE?? Wow... that's why I keep coming back here. Gems like THAT.

1. Do you get married?
Yes, I did get married. I got a marriage license with my husband and we were married in a beautiful ceremony at a lake and were married by a female retired judge. No religion was harmed in the process.
2. Do you believe it is wrong for your partner to cheat on you?
Yes, of course I do. Cheating is wrong no matter how you look at it and religion has nothing to do with it. Being honest with your partner has nothing to do with god. It has to do with personal integrity and the promise made to one another. We do not break that promise.
The human animal WANTS to have a bond with one person. It's part of our nature to desire a specific bond. We mate for life, or we would if left to our own devices.
Furthermore, morality isn't defined solely by religion. There were community standards (aka morals) long before there was religion. We know from cave drawings that ancient peoples had standards of conduct that could be compared to morals... and they had no religion or god.
While not everyone pays attention to their common sense, we all HAVE common sense. If it were nurtured by parents, we wouldn't need god(s).
3. Do you consider Atheism a religion or simply a lack thereof?
Atheism isn't a religion. Those who practice a specific religion have an entire laundry list of beliefs in addition to the "god" ones. Atheists share one belief: There is no god. After that, it's a crapshoot. Atheism is a lack of belief in a deity or the belief that there is no deity. That's all there is. We have no church, we have no books, we have no gatherings to discuss our non-belief. It just is.

I am an Atheist and my husband is Agnostic. We got married in a civil ceremony.
Of course it is wrong for a partner to cheat! What a strange question. Honesty and trust are not only valued by christians! Morality is a matter of common sense. I do not do things that harm other people, places or things.
If we happened because of science then there is no ''job'' for humans. Except to live decent productive lives that contribute to a better society.
Atheism is not a religion. I just don't believe in god.

1. Sure. You could do a civil ceremony at the town hall or court, but Church weddings are for the benefit of the religious relatives and satisfy their need for ceremony.
Marriage, in spite of what the preachers claim, is still a legal action and not a religious one.
2. Very much so. A marriage depends upon trust. If partners cheat the man can not be sure he is raising his own children instead of somebody else's. The woman can not be sure if he will stick around to help or if he will leave if he is cheating.
3. Try not to capitalize the word except at the start of sentences.
Atheism is only about the lack of belief in God(s).
Everything else you hear about atheism is not relevant.

1. Yes I have been married for 10.75 years I was married by a Justice of the Peace who gladly ommitted under god at my request.. All you have to do is ask and the mention on a deity can be left out..
2. My husband and I have made a committment to each other according to both of our moral codes cheating is unacceptable as it goes against that commitment..
All people have moral and ethical codes they live by.... Aborigines, African tribesmen, Amazonian tribesmen, Hawaiians, etc. had moral and ethical codes they lived by long before the arrival of christians or other religious people.. Those codes may not have resembles christian morals, that doesn't mean they didn't exist to help govern the societies of these peoples..
3. Atheism is not a religion or lack there of it is a belief..

Yes, I did get married (as an atheist).
There's lots of places you can get married and leave all the "God" stuff out of it...we had a ceremony performed by a legally ordained friend and we simply wrote our own wedding ceremony to leave all elements of Christianity out of it. Not hard to do. On the Internet, you can find people legally able to perform marriage, but who aren't religious. Also, most civil ceremonies in courthouses can be worded to leave "God" out of it. Sure, you might not be getting married in a church, but what atheist would want that anyways? For my second wedding, we are going to have a ceremony by the beach :)
As far as the second question goes...it's a matter of not hurting your partner. My fiancee would rather me not have sex outside of the relationship, as I would not want him to, so we are in a monogamous relationship. I respect his wishes and he respects mine. I know several couples who have "open" relationships, and that works for them.
Morals aren't based in Christianity. You can be moral without being a Christian. Morals are the values society has placed importance on. If religion wasn't in the picture, we would still have morals, and they probably wouldn't look much different.
Atheism isn't truly a religion, it's simply the belief that there is no God. For it to be a religion, there would have to be centralized core beliefs that most atheists follow. That just doesn't exist in atheism.

Yes atheists get married. I am an atheist and I am married to a Christian woman. I believe it is wrong for my partner to cheat on me. I do not consider atheism a religion. I believe that humans have basic morals that are in them when they are born. Let's remember though that Christians occupy 76% of the prison population in America, so let's not say that atheists have no morals.

1. Atheists can get married if they wish, marriage is not done under religion in most Western countries.
2. Yes. My morals come from me. I don't have a "job" here- I believe the world is overpopulated and we as a species should work to bring population levels down. I also believe in STD's and the like.
3. A lack thereof.

1. Yes atheists get married. I personally am not married, but that's a different story. There are tons of places in the world and in the USA were people can have non-Christian weddings!
2. Yes, I believe in being loyal and faithful. Humans by nature are social creatures. Being loyal to one's mate is beneficial to society. Christianity doesn't have a monopoly on loyalty and it is arrogant for you to claim that.
3. How could LACK of belief be a religion?
