Is nuclear destruction to horrible to imagine? If we are so lucky to survive another thousand years on earth, how will he be remembered? As a false prophet of doom?

Neither, he was just the first to work out the physics of the world. In reality Hiroshima was unfortuante to be the first major disaster. It taught us the lesson to be more careful with our discoveries. We cant stop progress only slow it down long enough to hopefully find a system of control. Safety always lags behind the danger of discovery

No I don't think so. I beleive Einsteins Theories combined with the work of Enrico Fermi were a matter of "evolution.

In this case, both Fermi and Einstein caged the lion as opposed to the Nazi Regime letting it out, of they could have.

By 1938 Enrico Fermi left Italy (Nobel prize 1938 ); Fermi being a Molecular-scientist of sorts was well aware of E=mc2 and turned that theory to work. Upon Fermi figuring out fission was possible in his experiments, based on Einstiens work, he contacted Einstien by December 1942 and advised him of his success at atom splitting as this supported the idea of the "Bomb". Fermi's work was a controlled split as opposed to "letting it go"...

Einstein then drafted the Roosevelt letter advising the President that the bomb could be built and felt the Nazi's were working on it at that time.

Einstein could have done nothing, but fearing the Germans would obtain the Lion first, Einstein felt they must cage it first and unleash it if they must; There Was Little Choice.

Einstein was a very peacfull guy, he struggled over advising the President and was Very Disturbed during this process as he felt his theory was absolutely correct, and he was.

Had Einstein not told the president the Nazi's surely would have obtained the Bomb sooner than the U.S. and we all know what Hitler was capable of; and remember, most of us never lived in that time period when Hitler ruled, Einstein Did and was aware Hitler of Hitlers attitudes and we all know Hitler made Hussien look like a Girl scout.

I would hope Einstein would be remembered for the person he was as opposed to the tool he created and we elected to abuse.

I think Einstein made a weapon to end the 2nd worst war in the world's history (after WW1). He isn't the villian. Thank Russian and Chineses spies as they are the ones who stole the tech to use for their own nefarious gains.

He was a brilliant man who was able to reveal a principle that already existed. The ''invention'' of the nuclear bomb has probably saved millions of people. Knowing that its use would result in utter descruction has caused countries to use caution and restraint.

Einstein was not a christian. He did not believe in the god of the bible. In 1929, Einstein was asked in a telegram by Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein whether he believed in God. Einstein responded by telegram "I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings''

Einstein only helped with the knowledge.

Oh, my God. Are people thinking that Einstein created atomic weapons? No wonder history is so screwed up.
