I can grasp a little bit.
We still have free will even after Jesus comes into our lives. Prayer aligns our will with GOD's will. I believe we discover GOD's will through what we think are our own request.

There is no mystery about prayer. We have to TALK with God and ask him what we want. Already He knows our needs and desires., But When we ask, He will give us what we need, like a wordly father. So kepp up talking to our beloved God, ask Him and wait for Him till you get. God bless you,

GOD made a Contract with Adam (mankind through Adam too).
For 6000 years.
Adam Kicked GOD outta' this Creation shortly afterward.
GOD has to wait till Contract Runs Out until HE can come back PERSONALLY and TAKE OVER, EVERYTHING.
Time's almost up.
Ditto..............oh yeah, almost forgot, Prayer gives GOD the Authority to do GOOD on this Earth to Help Everybody.

I've never looked at prayer as a mystery. The only mystery is what your praying for & to who your praying to.

It's really no mystery. Praying to a god is as effective as praying to a bag of bagels (although, I do prefer bagels, with cream cheese).

Who would pray without faith? Prayer is faith in action..talking to our Lord..thanking Him and letting our requests being made known.
