The somatic, sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system

Yes, it should be innervated by both. The parasympathetic slows the heart down, and the sympathetic speeds the heart up.

The above poster is wrong- cutting the vagus does NOT result in instant death. Before the invention of modern acid reflux drugs, one treatment of acid reflux would be to cut the vagus nerve, causing the stomach to secrete less acid.

Even the heart does not require the vagus nerve. Transplanted hearts don't have any nerve connections at least at first, and they do fine, although they tend to beat faster because of the lack of vagal input

Trick question, the SA node or the pacemaker of the heart is innervated by both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

CN X, the vagus nerve.

Vagus is from the latin root of "wanderer". It innervates a lot of stuff inc. the digestive tract and most organs..

The CN X is like the "X" button of your body. Cutting it results in near-instant death.

The vagus slows your heart rate down. I'm thinking if you became excited and your heart rate went up there would be nothing to slow it down and it would eventually become overworked and you would go into cardiac arrest
