I would think it is. There must be some other problem with the suspension that is causing the idler arm to go bad. Have the dealer go through the entire suspension and check it. Expain that this is the third one that will be in there. good luck.

You should not have to go to the dealer for service on a 7 year old vehicle. Have a local independent garage check it out for a second opinion. 71K miles should not rate 3 Idler arms since it is obviously parked most of the time. But, Fords are hard on ball-joints and steering boxes, maybe idler arms are a Jeep thing.

I will go farther...Guess what..YOU DON'T have an IDLER ARM!!! The definition and use of Idler arm is a separate moving bracket that is bolted to the main frame to carry the steering effort across the vehicle. You have a Drag Link,,that goes from the steering box to the right side steering knuckle, and a tie rod from one side of the front wheels to the other. Each of these have replaceable tie rod ends,,but NO IDLER ARM.
I would find someone else to talk to....NOW!
Good Luck

Sounds like there is more of a problem that is causing it to go bad, the idler arm may be a quick fix, but something else is probably wrong with the suspension. I would take it somewhere else to get it checked out.

Have you complained of steering issues when taking it into the dealer?
Maybe they are replacing a part that needs to be fixed on your Jeep, but the mechanic is not smart enough to kn the difference between a pitman arm and a drag link even though he knows what they do.

JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET
In French it is "LA HEEP">>>>>
If you mean the idler arm on the suspension then most likely your frame is bent.
