Have a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion on the horizon? Perhaps someone who loves you will give it to you as a gift. I think getting it for free is the cheapest way.

Do you want the latest version? Office 2004 is available in a Student/Teacher version. You qualify if you are a student or are the parent of one. That's the cheapest way to get Office at the retail level.

Next comes volume licenses for those who need 5 or more copies.

Then there's retail, which you can shop from thousands of stores. Pricegrabber.com, Amazon.com, your favorite computer store, etc - all offer deals so you should spend some time shopping.

eBay might have some copies, too. Just make sure the previous owner uninstalled the product before you install it.
