Well yeah. The only difference between religion and a cult is popularity.

It depends on how you look at it. I myself am atheist, however I'm an odd atheist at that. I believe most religions were made to explain things that couldn't be explained at the time, and because it was taught as "this IS the truth" it became ingrained into societies. However religion has been a moral center for most societies, teaching all of their followers a basic sense of right and wrong, and posting some otherworldly consequence if you mess up. The problem I see with religion is the constant scramble to explain the loopholes that are so blatant to anyone who wishes to actually think about the text they are reading. If you wish to follow a religion, I wouldn't take it as word for word this is how it is, but rather like Aesop's Fables, tales of morality to teach us a good path to live.

Are you lumping all religions into one big ball??? If you are I would have to say no. Don't forget religion is a man made institution, some religions are bad some are good, NONE are perfect, because they all are run by humans, and humans make mistakes and suffer from all the insecurities etc as any other human being does. Just because they head a religion does not make them perfect. That said we have to take religion at face value, does a particular religion serve the people that are members of it, does it make them better people than they would be without it? If it does then it is good. There are so called religions in the world that are no more than cults.
Personally I follow the culture of my ancestors. I am Native American, mixed with some English. I made a choice to follow my Native American feelings. I do so because to us spirituality is more than a Sunday thing, it is in our everyday lives, it surrounds us. I know that my Creator is there and commune with him daily. I don't belong to any of the organized religions, but does that mean I'm not religious. I don't think so.............

Religion as we know it today is a lie, a lie perpetuated by those in power to keep everyone in line and under control.
Throughout history, most religions were pretty much based the same way. Starting with the Egyptian god, Horus. Horus was born on December 25th, born to a virgin, betrayed, crucified, and resurected. Same goes for Krishna, Dionysus, etc. Even when christianity started to take root, they just said, our Jesus is the same as your god Jupiter. Horus the God of the sun, or the Sun god, or the son of god. also called lamb of god, the light, etc. When you look, all these religion are based on the same thing. the link below explains it more eloquently than i can at 5 am.

I prefer to use the term "lie" to refer exclusively to a statement that one does not believe to be true. If a person makes a statement that is false but is believed to be true, I do not consider it a lie. Most believers are sincere in their beliefs, although some - especially leaders - may be lying, and in most cases, the origins of religions are sufficiently obscure that we cannot be certain whether their founders lied or were just wrong.
I believe all religions to be false. However, I do not consider any but a very few to be actual lies - and, ultimately, the truth or falsity of a religious claim is far more important than the intent of the claim's maker.

Most religions practised on the Planet are YES...
Christianity was made up of many old Pagan religions..
The Koran is borrowed from both Jewish and Christian myths..
The closest you will find to true religion, is the study of the Native Religions... The Earth Mother Religions...
All these religions were flourishing, then along comes Christianity and says basically, follow us or we will kill you...
Christianity and Islam are responsible for mega-millions of deaths over the centuries....
Blessed Be... )O(

Its up to the individual to choose, each person must make a choice, I myself believe not so much in the term religion as Love, which means follower of Christ, as he is one of the best examples of Compassion and Mercy that I have read about. I looked at how he delt with difficult people and situations it was never hostile but Peacefully. I have tried using the fruits of Love which is Humility first this gives me a more openess to view the situation without Judgement which allows Compassion, Mercy and Forgiveness to flow. TRY it , it works. WORDS are powerful ,all things come into being by them. Two kingdoms are growing at the moment one is Peace and the other is Hate. Just look around and see how people are behaving dont judge them but be aware. Only you can choose to be unhappy or Joyful. I choose to be happy .Just like light moves out so does Love with joy. No one can make you sad unless you choose to allow their comment or action to effect you.

No! religion is not a lie and there has been no evidence nor will there ever be that it is a lie. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
So man will stand before God to give an answer one day for saying he/she did not believe. No ice cubes in hell!

Religion is man made. The Bible has been rewritten 26 times, it is like any other history book. Each book in the Bible is one man's account of what he claims happened when he was writing the letters. It was his take on what happened. Religion is another man's take on what it means to be a soldier for God and what is expected of you. I personally am more spiritual than religious. I do not agree with any of the religions out there. They are simply for the benefit of men, however, some of us are free thinkers and are not able to abide by religion but rather by what we know to be good and honest!

Religion is a set of man made set of traditions and rules that are designed to help people get closer to G-d.
I don't think it started off as a lie, or that in many ways it continues as a lie.
I believe it was corrupted along the way, but started off with good intentions and many continue with these intentions even today.

Yo Human Nature,Religion is and always has been a state of mind, christians or so-called-christian's have always thought that they should practise the( hahaha)word of GOD,for want of another term!! And if they had read the Bible they would know at once what was writen, and if anyone can prove it to be wrong they will go to the head of the class. In the bible it say's that satan & god,(not jesus)were brother's,and that both had an equal right to earth, but as brother's go they had a misunderstanding and (pardon the pun )satan was cast from the Heaven TO EARTH,so now who has got more right to be here-Us SATANIST'S,so all you christ lover's had better find another planet as this one belong's to SATAN!!!!!!!!!!
